I love dried fruit... And my mom got me a food dehydrator for Christmas!

I plan on drying some mango, banana, pineapple, and strawberries.. Maybe finding a tofu jerky recipe.

I would like suggestions as to what things are good dried... maybe some recipes? Raw cookies? Etc.?

Oh! I also plan on drying my own herbs so I can have organic spices.

Citrus doesn't come out well for eating but it's great for potpourri.

Mushrooms will dehydrate well, too. So will most veggies and a lot of "watery" fruits.

Harder veggies need blanching before drying (your dehydrator book will tell which ones). Softer veggies don't really need to be but again, check your book.

If you have the solid tray, you can make your own leathered fruit and "cheese" crackers. If you don't have the solid tray, they're really easy to order from the company.

Don't put anything vinegar or alchohol based in your dehydrator.

This thread has some more dehydrator ideas. There's also a couple of jerky recipes in there, too.
