Inspired by the potatoes thread.

How do you like your tortilla chips?

There are the normal things:

-salsa

-guacamole

-hummus

-mustard

-ketchup

-pickle relish

Okay, so maybe pickle relish isn't that normal...but you get the idea.

And then there are others, so lets be creative!

I go for unique flavors. I'm a big fan of guacamole in the first place, but... I like odd chips, such as Kettle's Black Bean n Rice Tortilla Chips. Sooo yummy.

Also prefer my salsa to be exciting. Current fave: peach-mango.

I'm just a boring old salsa and guacamole with my tortilla chips kinda gal...

If it weird that I only like the 'juice' of the salsa and not the actual chunks of vegetable and whatnot?

Looks like we have something in common. I always put sweet pickle relish on my nachos.

I like vegan chilli, "cheese", jalepenos, and relish on my chips.

Mustard and ketchup on tortilla chips? Blasphemy! I never heard of such a thing.

I'm just a guac and fresh salsa or pico de gallo fan myself.

me too on the first part, but i love chunky salsa. if it isn't too hot, i'll get the biggest pile of salsa that will stay on the chips with each scoop. and guacamole can't be too avocado-y.

i also dip them in refried beans or eat whole black beans with them.

We do taco salads with chips. I love peach salsa. I also will make a creamy spinach artichoke(vegan) dip that I really like to eat with chips.

I like the Kettle Chips Little Dippers best. And the Sesame Blues from Garden of Eatin'.

With chili, guac, salsa cruda, crock cheeze, as nachos with Vegan Gourmet nacho cheese...mmm.

I like them with plain raw onions if I'm hungry enough.

Umm I usually just eat plain tortilla chips if they're already salted.. if not I need salsa with it or something ..yeah another typical boring combination..

I don't like the salsas where the veggies aren't that chopped up.. I want it almost like a tomato paste but just a little chunky...not TOO chunky

No, I only like the "juice" of the salsa too, my mom always gets mad at me when she sees me throw away the chunks. I simply don't consider them edible. When I blend the jar to get rid of the chunks she gets mad too, theres no winning

I can eat them with just salsa... BUT....

One of our tried and true dinner options is a taco salad with chips. I make refried beans, I brown up some taco style Smart Ground, I make guacamole, I chop up lettuce and tomato, and make nutritional yeast sauce. We put little piles of each thing on our plates with nutritional yeast sauce poured over the beans and smart ground. Then we just dig into the whole pile with the tortilla chips!

Ahhh, getting hungry just thinking about it!

first of all, they have to be real tortilla chips - fresh tortilla wraps fried in vegetable oil (yumm i could just eat them straight)

and homemade salsa

storebought will do too

The best storebought salsa, IMO, is the Trader Joe's hot salsa blended to a thick pasty consistency in the blender. MMMMMM!

Similar to rij's salad, I loooove Seven Layer Dip.

Starting at the bottom of a square 8x8 pan, layer:

- refried beans

- TVP or round ground with taco seasoning

- cheese (or cheeze. or neither.)

- salsa

- guac

- sour cream (tofutti, of course!)

- lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and olives

deeeeeeee-lish! And great for a party (and no one EVER guesses when it's vegan. muahahaha)

I heat up a can of black beans with salsa and corn [and sometimes 'hamburger' crumbles, too, if I have an open package in the fridge]. I dip fatfree tortilla chips in this and call it dinner. Yum!

Warning though, its very addictive. I spent 15 minutes this morning tearing through my house looking for corn chips, just so I could make it. I considered just eating it by itself, but decided that would be kind of weird.

I have to second the Sesame Blues. They're awesome.

I like tortilla chips by themselves, in taco salads, and with fresh guac. I'm not that big of a salsa person, though I'll eat a bit if I'm in a Mexican restaurant. I need to find an approximation of chili con queso, which I used to love... maybe that recipe of punkmommy's that was mentioned...
