grilled cheese?

Is there a vegan cheese that will actually melt on the bread? All of my attempts to make grilled cheese sandwiches haven't gone well because the cheese substitutes don't melt and stick to the bread.

Are you making them on a pan?

I make mine on a panini press and it melts. I have used both chao cheese creamy original and daiya mozarella shreds and both melt on a panini press. You're probably never going it to melt to the point of seeing those strings of cheese when cutting it in half, but it should melt.

I've been doing it on the stove. Oh, so maybe I should get a panini press.

I have used both of those brands and they melt just fine. I broil the bread (with a slice of tomato on the other side) in my toaster oven)

Daiya cheddar shreds. Grilled cheese is all they're good for, IMO, but they're really good for that!
Melty, just like American slices. I like the pepperjack shreds for grilled cheese too, I just use a cast iron. Vegan mayo is good for the bread instead of margarine
