I'd use the jar of Prego, and decrease that 3 cups of water to half of that. Since you dont have the tomato paste, there isn't a need for all that water..otherwise the dish would be tasteless.

ok ill try it! thanks!

i hope its good and i hope i can get my man to eat it. despite the fact that one of his granddaddies is the former sauerkraut king of wadsworth ohio he really hates cabbage! he also hates TVP. but it really sounds good cooked and layered like this. i dunno but im off to get it together.

it wasnt very flavorful guys but it wasnt bad. the husband barely touched it though.

i took shaggys advice on the prego but used a little more water than she reccomended because it seemed dry. i did not add any additional spices other than a little salt, pepper and oregno once it was on my plate.

next time i make it im going to try spicing it up a little. im going to half everything except the garlic. i might use vegetable broth instead for water. i think it would be excellent if the TVP was cooked hamburger style. like browned in a skillet with a spice although i might need to add more water or tomato sauce since there was so much moisture in the reconstituted TVP. i think the morning star farms burger could be pretty good.

ill experiment with it some day and come back to post my version!
