anyone tried the vanilla cake from HIAV? - VeggieBoards

I am making a cake to bring to work on Friday and I want it to be perfect. It is for my friend who is leaving and she likes vanilla cake. The recipe in HIAV looked good. I was thinking of using strawberry jelly in the middle and frosting it with the buttercream frosting from Garden of Vegan. And than I want to decorate it with strawberries and blueberries. Has anyone tried either of those recipes?

I actually made this same vanilla cake two weeks ago, but I added chocolate chips to it for a vanilla/chocolate chip cake. It turned out REALLY good. my frosting, however, was weird and runny. But that wasn't HIAV's fault, because I got the frosting recipe from The Compassionate cook.

....anyway. The vanilla cake was tasty.

I know this is a bit late, but the vanilla cake is my family's absolute favorite. I frost it with the "anything goes" frosting from garden of vegan and add peppermint extract for flavor. Absolutely amazing!!!!

I've done it and was a fan of the flavor, but... make sure you use a good egg replacer. I made it once and it totally didn't rise, because I used some bad concoction.



Dig on the strawberry/buttercream combo. That's one of my favorite kinds of cake!

I ended up making it and it was a huge hit! At first everyone was eating the non vegan cake and I was the only one eating mine but than people started trying it and all I heard all day was how good it was. People were going back for seconds! Man I love those cookbooks. Every recipe I have made from them have come out so good.
