I appologize if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find anything about it. What the heck is Quorn??! I read somewhere a long time ago that it was a mold? Is that right? Is it healthy or what? It doesn't seem like eating mold would be very healthy! I keep seeing it in the store and was curious if I should try it but I wanted to ask here first to see if anyone has info on it.

Thanks!

Christine

There are a couple of threads about it. You can read more about how it is made etc from the manufacturer's website:http://www.quorn.com/

Oh, and it's not made of a mould, but of a fungus.

I don't understand why people freak out about eating fungus. Fungus is food! Fungus is our friend!

Quorn is pretty good stuff; I thought the faux chicken patties were particularly tasty.

Quorn (noun): Something you can look up on Google.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Bizarro.... Yeah, it's not exactly like chicken, but it's so close, it's scary. I am craving it again.

Yes, it's "mycoprotein" that comes from "fungus" in their words, which could be anything from mushrooms to yeast to mold. It tastes like it is probably a yeast.
