No flavor packets were used, only the noodles.
The noodles are vegan - but the flavor packet probably wasn't. I don't think that maruchan makes any vegan packet flavors (can anyone confirm/deny this?).
If you are buying the noodles remember that the company doesn't know if you are eating the packet or not, and they don't care as long as you keep buying it. If the packet contains meat derivatives and you buy the packet, then you are telling the company you are fine with it containing the meat.
If you were just desperate for a meal, and it was better than going hungry, there are probably worse things you could eat. But I personally would try to get noodles that contain vegan flavor packets too, even if you end up not using the packets.
I have actually done the same thing before in a pinch (visiting friends at their college dorm) - so I hope you didn't think I was coming off as harsh, I didn't mean to! I just wanted to make sure you thought about buying vegan ramen to begin with.
