Does anyone else here get some sort of vegetable box delivered? Do you get to pick what goes in it or is it a surprise when it comes? How do you decide what to do with what you get?

I was just wondering - we have a box delivered weekly and I love it! We go through a company that buys from multiple local farmers, but who will also buy out of area if we want something that isn't available locally. They make a list each week based on what is available and in season, and we can make changes to it if we need to.

We eat so many more vegetables (and fruits) with the box delivery than without it. Now that we have them delivered we feel like we have to either eat them or throw away our money. It costs more than buying the vegetables as we need them at the grocery store, but it makes it easy to support local agriculture, we eat better, and it gets delivered to us.

We don't make many changes to the box because I enjoy the spontaneity that cooking with new random fruits and veggies brings. I'm always opening the box and thinking "hmm... mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli... that's a stir fry!" It's fun! I wish that we had a service like this available in the last town I lived in. Do you have one near you?
