Ive seen soy dogs in the shop, but I'm not that big on processed food. Has anyone made a not dog themselves? If so how?

I haven't tried doing it myself but I've had a couple great looking recipes bookmarked for awhile now, the key seems to be vital wheat gluten.

Here's an italian sausage recipe that looks excellent from Post Punk Kitchen: http://www.theppk.com/2012/01/vegan_sausage/

And a step by step how to guide for vegan hot dogs with pictures: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Vegan-Hot-Dogs

It looks very doable, if you try it before I do let me know how it goes! smiley.gif

I've made the Ppk recipe, it's good, changed the spices a bit. The steaming is an important step for texture.

I'm so in luv with carrot dogs. Simply grill a carrot and put in bun w toppings. To get fancier, marinate or pickle the carrots b4 grilling.

I've made the PPK recipe (which is Julie Hasson's, which Isa acknowledges - she even credits Hasson in Vegan Brunch). If you roll the dough too thick they end up kinda dry. The recipe makes 6, I used it to make 4. Shoulda stuck with 6. :)
