Need a Cabbage soup recipe - VeggieBoards

I want a tasty tomato based cabbage soup recipe. Anyone have one to share?

You threw me with the 'tomato based'. But here's as close as I can get:



Polevka Z Hlavkoveho Zeli S Parkem (Cabbage Soup With Frankfurters)



1 small white cabbage, chopped

1 1/2 oz vegan lard ( 1 1/2oz margarine mixed with 1 tsp veggie bacon bits that have been crushed to a powder )

1 onion, chopped

1/4 cups flour

6 cups veggie stock

3 potatoes, cubed

2 veggie frankfurters (tofu pups, smart dogs etc), sliced

Parsley - chopped



Fry cabbage in half the vegan lard along with onion. When cabbage turns yellow, sprinkle with flour and add remainder of vegan lard. Simmer until tender.



Dilute with stock, season to taste with salt, add potatoes, frankfurters and boil about 20 minutes. Add parsley before serving.

and for the adventurous:



Uncle Bill's Sauerkraut Soup



8 cups sauerkraut

8 cups water

1 1/4 cups raisins

2 cups raisins

1 cup prunes, cut into small pieces

2 thin slices lemon

1/4 tsp salt



Simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serve hot with tiny boiled potatoes in the soup.

I already started my crock pot with something similar to the first....i definitely find the 2nd interesting I will have to try that next time. But what's up with the double raisins?

That's my typing skillz It should be 1 1/4 to 2 cups raisns.

ok...lol...i thought it was supposed to be 2 different things....lol...i will be trying that recipe though...it sounds good.

OK so this is what i made....



Spicy Cabbage Soup - vegan

I made this in a med sized (round) crock pot)



1/2 head of cabbage

1 29oz can tomato sauce

1 cup of frozen mixed veggies

a few peeled ends of sweet potatoes

small bunch of fresh parsley

a few leaves of fresh basil

2 dry bay leaves

lots of fresh ground pepper & salt to taste

few dashes of hot sauce

2-3 cloves of minced garlic

1 whole onion

2 slices of facon

fill remaining crockpot with broth (I used "beef" bouillon and water)



throw it all in a crock pot and cook till desired texture...6-8 hours ish.
