I'd have to say hummus or guacamole. I can't decide between the two!

Bean dip:

Heat a can of vegetarian refried beans in a saucepan over low heat. Add a cup of salsa. Add some chopped green onions or finely chopped red onions, just a 1/4 of a cup or less. Stir. Pour into serving bowl and top with pickeled jalapeno slices. Serve with tortilla chips.

Good guacamole or vegan sour cream. Or, even better, both!

I love hummus, I usually make my own from scratch, either with canned or cooked dried chickpeas.

Yesterday I did something a little out of the ordinary: I bought hummus with sundried tomatoes!

If you have had fresh guacamole like I have had, you wouldn't be asking this question. My crazy sister makes the best guac ever. It's unbelievably good.

But you didn't mention salsa for a dip. It's the most sustainable one. I could eat chips & salsa as a whole meal. Once again, if it's good salsa, not the stuff "made in New York City!"

Baba gannouj! If it wouldn't make me crazily fat, I'd sit around and eat that stuff ALL DAY. The Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food around here (Detroit) is outrageous...

I love guacamole. Even premade stuff is good, although it's hard to find vegan, so it's usually a homemade thing. I really like homemade hummus but it's a ton of work, and the stuff from stores just doesn't compare, to me.

I agree. On white corn tortilla chips, either is to die for.

Guacamole [I'm originally from Southern California and grew up with avocado trees] and Baba Ghanouj. Mmm.

Hummus and baba. Pineapple salsa is also really addicting.

I love guacamole and hummus way too much. I probably make homemade guac at least once a week. My boyfriend adores it too.

This sounds delicious. I am definitely making some this weekend, with my killer homemade salsa.

Guacamole with toasted & ground pumpkin seeds, hummus, and refried pinto beans with salsa. Yum!

Now I'm hungry.

To me making hummus is second nature, I've been doing it for years... It's true, it takes a little work and organization, espeially if you cook the chickpeas from scratch, but it's well worth it.

Those are my favorites. I would have to say that hummus wins out, though.

Hummus!!! Refried beans with salsa is very good too!

Or pimento cheese spread dip. (if you're not vegan, of course)

Me neither. In fact, when people pose the hypothetical question: If you could only eat one kind of food for the rest of your life, what would it be? I reply "Dips!"

I love hummus, Baba, Muhhamara, Tatziki, Labna, Salsa, Guac, Bean dip, spinach and artichoke dip, any kind really....

I just recently saw this article on chowhound with 27 different dips. Disclaimer: Most are vegetarian, but a few have meat, but I'm sure could easily be vegn*ised..

I made this for Superbowl Sunday last weekend and it was tasty! Pretty much tossed everything but the kitchen sink into a basic guacamole. It was also the first time I'd made plantain chips for dippers and they were good! Recipe

The simplest guacamole possible ... avocado, lime, salt & garlic. Bliss. I really dislike hummus

I just made a fabulous dip - rinsed and drained canned artichoke hearts, soft tofu, basil, lemon juice and a bit of salt - all pureed in the food processor. It's lovely!

Hummus, bean dip, or really thick salsa, I could seriously eat all of those with a spoon...and I sometimes do.
