I bought a couple adorable little guavas at the Asian market this week. Problem is, I've never eaten a fresh guava before, and I'm not really sure how to, or when it's ripe. They were rather hard at the store, but they're a bit more tender now and they smell fantastic - really bright and tropical and citrusy. Can anyone who's enjoyed fresh guava give me some advice on when it's ready to eat and how I should go about doing so? (i.e. seeds? skin? wha?)

I think from what I've read now online looking for an answer, that it's ripe now, and it can spoil within a couple of days.....if it's softer and smells really good, it's ripe!
