My name is Jessie. I'm a Senior in high school. I have been vegetarian off and on for a year or so, and I am now trying to slowly transition myself instead of going cold turkey. So for now I am eating l/o vegetarian at home and TRYING to find veggie things when I'm at restaurants, but if there are none I have been known to eat chicken nuggets. But, I'm trying really hard, so please don't be mad at me. I found these forums while looking for veggie recipes and such and I think it will be a great resource for me.

and welcome Jessie ... well it doesn't seem like you are far from your transition from going vegetarian . Slow , seems to be best for most than cold turkey , you can understand what is involved .

Most restaurants are easy to deal with , just politely tell them your requirements .

Welcome! I haven't really been to a restaurant where there's not anything I can eat.

Welcome to VB!

Learning what can be eaten and how to order in a restaurant is one of the more difficult aspects of going vegetarian. However, there is a lot of restaurant-going experence amongst us. If you tell us what kinds of restaurants you go to, we can help you by giving you suggestions and advice about ordering.

Do you live in the South? I do. It's a pain.

pajamajes, welcome to VB.

Thats great that you are trying to go vegetarian. It seems to be really hard for some and easy for others and thankfully, my transition to vegetarianism (and soon after, veganism) went smoothly.

It doesn't sound like you have a lot of resources for vegetarians where you live considering that most of the restaurants i've been too offer animal product-free food, atleast a salad! The recipe section here is really useful so read it when you can.
