Hi all! I'm Hannah (pokes user name) and I only recently committed myself to vegetarianism, though I have been considering it for a few months now, teaching myself to like the vegetables my parents serve in the mean time. I asked about how to start up the lifestyle on another forum I frequent, and I was pointed in this direction! I may be a newbie but I'm here to learn! (I've already browsed the Recipes section. ) A lot of my friends are vegetarians too, mostly for religious purposes.

Unfortunately, I don't exactly know what my parents' opinions are. They haven't quite expressed them yet. (All I really know is that I had to correct my dad about what a vegan is. He thought vegans only avoided fish. D'oh!) But I am going away to a university in about 10 months, so by then I'll have more control over what I eat.

My ultimate goal is to go full vegan, but you have to walk before you can run!

Anyway... hi!

I had problems with my parents when I became a vegetarian. I still have problems but I don't live with them anymore. So it does get easier when you move out. Just hold on.

I hope everything goes well.

Wow, that's unusual! Most of the time when people are wrong they think fish is the only thing vegetarians don't avoid, and I've never heard that sort of confusion about veganism (usually it's no knowledge of what it is at all )

Anyway, welcome to VB and good luck on becoming vegan, every one counts!

Yeah... it's weird all right. I don't expect him to support me much. He's the main carnivore in the house. and does all the shopping

Anyway, thanks for the warm welcomes! I look forward to learning a lot more from this site.
