Hi all! I started the transition from a carnivore last August. I got really sick after eating red meat and literally gave it up that week and in a month I was done with it. The month after, I gave up all pork, and then all chicken and fish. I stopped drinking milk all together. This all occurred between August and Thanksgiving of 2007. I have since been a vegetarian and I have been feeling great and happier than ever.

The other thing is that after reading all the news about meat being tainted and the standards in the U.S.A. being lowered every day to help big business, I cannot, in my right mind, consume that garbage they sell at a premium price. No thank you. Besides, biting into the carcass of another being just seems weird and unjust to me...

Anywho, I am really excited about meeting new people and hearing about different ways to eat out with friends and not feel like an outsider. I really dread being "that [vegetarian] guy" and I don't want people to feel like they need to make adjustments to where they go because of me.

So, I guess, hi, and I hope to learn a lot and meet new people!

and welcome ....re eating out , there are good hints in threads on the boards .

If you know where you are going ring in advance to see what the veg options or go online , a lot of restaurants have menu's online.

Or when you get there and if there is nil veg on menu , go out and see the chef ,(not the waitress ) explain politely what you eat and what can they cook up for you .
