I am a 51-yr-old single mom who recently (a month ago) decided to go vegetarian. I am enjoying the journey so far, researching and learning as much as I can. I just last week decided to go vegan! I'm really excited about that. I have battled weight for many years and started exercising and eating more healthy in Jan of 08, but wasn't getting where I wanted to be. Afer reading the book "skinny *****, I was completely motivated for ALL reasons to go veggie. So far, I love it - Don't miss the dead flesh at all! I am wondering about the B12 thing though, what exactly provides enough of that? If anyone can help it would be appreciated?

welcome to VB

since you've just started on the journey, you don't really need to worry about B12 right this second as the body stores it for a bit, if i understand correctly. if you're eating a lot of food that has been fortified with it (soy milks, etc), you should be fine. you can get a sublingual tablet after you've been vegan for a while.

Thanks. I have just this past week gone totally vegan and given up milk and cheese etc. I haven't started drinking any soy milk yet - will visit the whole foods store this weekend though and plan to.
