This is a thread for the Old School VBers (those who have been around and acually post) to introduce themselves again. This way the newbies will have a better idea of who the regulars are in these parts.

If you don't post, I may put an introduction up for you.

If you are a new member, please go ahead and start your own thread, so everyone can read your intro and welcome you to the board.

(Michael - can you sticky this post so it stays at the top?)

Good thread! I guess I'll go first. I'm 29, single, live in Illinois. I "work" as a computer operator for an insurance company. I'm also going to school part-time. I've been a vegetarian for 5 1/2 years.

Other than VeggieBoards I don't really have any hobbies. I do enjoy listening to music and going to see classic/foreign/independent films.

Hi! I am Tame aka the Tame Dawg aka the Pimp. I am 31, happily married (most of the time), and I have 3 curtain climbers currently residing in my home.

I started out on Vegan Outreach in March of 2000, and I wandered over here after VO dropped their discussion forum in 2001.

I am a strict vegetarian, but I have no interest in animal rights or animal rights philosophy. I also lean towards libertarian politically, and odds are something I post on this board will offend you. If you feel the need to respond or ask me to be more sensitive, please note that the line forms in the back and you need to take a number.

Oh, I also have my own icon.

If you come here with the purpose of harassing Michael or any of the other members (even the ones I don't like), I will kick my cyber boot up your virtual ass.

Otherwise, I am an okay guy...at least in my opinion. Just don't make me angry. You won't like me if I get angry.

I have running battles with a few board members that go way, way back. These are now mostly in good fun, so please don't feel the need to interject yourself into our squabbles.

I'm Teri, I'm vegan since 1978, veggie a few years before that. I live in England, I've been married to an omni man for twelve years. We live in the countryside and have several acres of grass that I'm turning into a wildlife friendly place. I used to be very AR, but I grew old and couldn't run fast enough any more. I never was confrontational though, I'm far too devious for that. I've been around here since VO got tired of the fights between veg*ns and omnis, but I rather enjoyed most of the debates and found they hugely strengthened my resolve as to why I'm vegan. And some of those omnis really helped me out with their knowledge of wild animals, like when I was trying to rear some motherless pheasants. I like hearing the veg*n gossip on here, and meeting loads of foreigners on the board. And then there's the flirting and the joking. It's not all dead serious. And Tame is my main man

Hi

I am 28 (since today!!!) and single. (female) I am vegetarian for ethical reasons (almost 6 years) and eat vegan about 90% of the time.

I joined the VO boards in either late 2000 or early 2001 (can't remember) and came here when they shut down.

I am a graduate student in bioethics (and work in research related to prevention in medicine).

I tend to be a skeptic, so don't take it personally if I question something. It doesn't mean I disagree with the general idea it is promoting, maybe just the facts involved.

Even though I have strong opinions of some things, I always take interest in opinions opposite of my own because they either give me reason to strengthen my own opinions or question them and evolve. People unwilling to question their own beliefs or understand that other people have reasons for having a different opinion drive me mad.

I'm Kat, the resident angsty teenager. I'm 18, I live in North Carolina, and I'm a senior in high school. I've grown up a whole lot since my first posts at VB, and I've gone through a lot of teenage drama which I've recounted here.

I went vegetarian when I was 7 or so, but I became serious about it when I was 11 or 12. I went vegan when I was 14.

My hobbies include webdesign (though I've had little time to do so lately), painting/sculpting/arting around, writing angsty teenager poetry, going to shows, sitting in front of the computer, and having a crush on someone.

Hi, I'm SilverC.
I hope I'm old school enough to be posting in this thread.

I'm 24, and have been married (common-law) for 5 and a bit years. I live in southern Ontario at the moment. I've been a veggie for just over 2 years, and hope to go vegan someday.

I have a BA in anthropology, and I specialized in primatology. I am currently in a college Animal Care program (one more month! woo). I want to work in primate rescue and rehabilitation. And if not, then any type of wildlife rehab would be awesome.

I'm very much into animal rights. I'm an atheist, and a feminist. I like reading, and writing. I'm pretty introverted in real life.

I share my home with two guinea pigs and a cat, all rescues. I'm also taking care of my in-laws' dog for the winter.

Ummm, that's all I can think of.

Im the WyldFyre ,some of you knew me as my other alter ego ,Gemnyst ,which is who I started on Vegan Outreach as almost three years ago now.

Im 27 ,not-so-single anymore , a wildland firefighter ,and amateur gymnast. Ive been veg*n for almost five years now. I enjoy skiing ,biking ,swimming etc. ,also playing my congas ,bass guitar ,and didgeridoo.

I also like reading old books ,especially about knights and chivalry and the like ,second to those books are really old and bawdy tales ,such as the Canterbury Tales and the Arabian Nights.

Even though I dislike adultery one of my favorites is the Carpenters Tale ,and also the one about the king who marries the young woman and then the gods make him blind and she meets her lover in the garden atop a tree while the king sits blinded below. The Knights tale is also good. Damn Im going to have to go read it again! Do you read it in the original English??

so, i've been around for what seems like forever and a day but i'm not veg*n and i'm not planning on becoming a veg*n- i'm only here because i sent michael a bunch of dirty pictures a while back-

seriously though, i was invited over to VO back in the day by heidi for some interesting debates. i started out all defensive, but then i became really interested in what everyone had to say and i pretty much dropped that- really, i'm a nice person in real life!

i've learnt a lot about animal rights and veg*nism (including what the * means in veg*n!) and i've also had the opportunity to challenege many of my beliefs- animal related and non.

i'm 25. i live with many small furried creatures, including boybunny and girlbunny, who keep my life interesting and exciting! i also have a horse, and i volunteer for an animal rescue and would like to one day start my own rabbit rescue and will likely end up living on a farm. tours for everyone, i promise.

other points of interest about me: i'm an unreligious pro-choice country music lovin' feminist who is ashamed to a) watch and actually enjoy reality television and b) covet the precious trip to the horrible walmart. i am also a terrible speller. watch out for it.

(*Harp starts playing swirly music, smoke drifts in through the billowing curtains*) "

... As though from out of a dream, OR

(hot red lights flare up, the ground shakes and trumpets of doom sound) perhaps something from your worst nightmare...

Iiiiiiiiiittttttttt'ssss:

AvaLoN!!!!!

(dunh dunh dunh!!)

Yes! Yes! It is I, your friendly neighbourhood Avalon, who has resided amongst you since the days of VO, where I went by a different name, and mostly just lurked with a fury (too shy to post)! But thence my shy-i-tude vanished (*more harps) and I became, YES! The BOLD and mighty Avalonian! (*more trumpets) Whereupon I began to conquer VB post counts and slay naysayers most mightily. Upon the turning of VB1 into VB2, whereupon the very earth shook, "Avalon" as you know her was born.

I am 24. Veg*an since 2000 at least, and I WAS vegan vegan for 2 of those years. I am no longer however (back to lacto-ovo in some quantities) and that is not in any way up for debate. I am now officially cohabitating, as of this weekend, with my man who has loved me since grade 7, though for the better part of 9 years I ignored and was mean to his shrimpy ass. I live in MONT-RE-AL! Hon hon hon!

I am also a proud Pagan. Wiccan beeotch, to be exact.

I am completing a major in Anthropology and I otherwise generally do too much. Included in said pile of excess is: working with the deaf in many capacities: captioning, volunteering wit' da itty bitties, and taking sign classes; recording album with band; working 2 jobs; quilting; sitting around on VB... ETC.

Generally speaking I am quite fair, and it takes a lot to get on my bad side. Generally speaking I also stay far far away from the debate threads, as I feel they shorten my lifespan, and/or give me a rash.

Any newbies who have need of advice, guidance, a hello, etc, feel free to PM me. I am one of the Supermod's here, so it is thus my pleasure. If it weren't my job, I wouldn't otherwise have anything to do with you.

(Just kidding.)

p.s.: I don't bite, unless you ask very very nicely, and/or bring chocolate sauce.

im a 28 yr old vegan male currently living in San Diego California USA.

Im a college drop out, or can i not refer to my self as one because i only went to community college for a year? anyway, some people think im funny, and they like to hang out with me, but i dont really like very many people, so i usually spend lots of time alone, which is ok with me i suppose.

I like to think of myself as a writer, but i cant say as i ever wrote anything. I actually distain writing, well not writing so much as the whole writing process. You know like thinking of a story and characters and getting them into some intelligible form that someone other than i can understand.

i think im slowly going insane, which is odd because insanity doesnt run in my family. Like i recently devoloped the power to control rainfall. Dont believe me? I use to ride my bike to work everyday for about 7 months. In that time i had never been rained on. Sure it rained during some of those days, just not in the location i was or during the time i was riding my bike, which was at the same time and the same course everyday. I also have to power to control other peoples thoughts, if you dont believe me i have proof. You are thinking hey this guy is a bit off, which is what i wanted you to think. see!!!!! im freaking jedi master. sorta.

basically i think that we are all just bits of particles that get increasingly smaller, yet all work together to form something bigger. Of course this is true for everything. Like the atoms make up molecules, molecules make up organs, organs make up the body, the body works at some job, the employer supplies stuff to people the people belong to a city, the city a state, the state a country, the country is part of earth, the earth is part of a solar system, the solar system is part of the universe, well that as bout as far as it gets, but maybe in a few years we will know what is beyond all that and know what is smaller than subatomic particles or whatever. So basically we are just pieces of a greater whole and at the same time we are the greater whole. of course that isnt exact, i think i missed some pieces in that.

im also working on the theory of majakism, which is named after me of course. funny that, egostical manic. anyway, it basically is a secret that i cant tell you about because i was contracted by the us government for militarising it. it will be much more fun than a nuclear warhead when i get it finished.

I posted at Vegsource under the name Gazelle from 1999-2000, until I got into an argument with Joanne Stepaniak and was subsequently voted out of the tribe. So I headed over to Vegan Outreach (at the time, VO and VS were not getting along with each other) and posted there as Gazelle Sunday. Then VO got rid of their forums and I registered here.

I've been a vegetarian 6 years, a vegan 4 1/2 years. I'm a 24-year-old single gay female. I graduated from college last year with a degree in psychology. This year I'm working for AmeriCorps VISTA in Syracuse, NY. I'm opinionated enough to get kicked off of message boards but I'm really not that hotheaded in real life.

I really like this smilie even though it bothers a lot of people:
