Never know what to put in introductions so I'll just ramble like usual:
My name is Jack. I am a 22 year old student. I have been vegetarian since November 2004, so a little over 3 years, most of which I have been vegan (I was vegan to start, vegan for two years, fell off the wagon into ovo-lacto vegetarianism, went back to veganism, but I have been vegetarian for three years without stopping). I went vegetarian entirely for animal rights reasons, although I certainly am happy about the health and environmental benefits as well. I am a former hunter and a former animal agriculture student (Which has come in handy a great deal of the time when somebody tries pulling that "You learned all this from animal rights organizations!" line on me. Guess what! I didn't.)
If any of you are on Facebook, I'm the primary admin of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals cause on the Causes application.
I really like activism, although being Winter I haven't been as active lately as I wish I was (I feel condemned to stocking literature boxes and the like, but it's still something). I don't limit this only to animal rights, but also LGBT issues, feminist issues, environmental issues, human rights issues, and whatever else I get the chance too actually. I am also a conference junkie.
I enjoy camping, hiking, gathering, herbalism, crafting, art, writing, HTML, computers, and reading/writing discourses on political/social issues. I love cooking but am really bad at it.
