Hello there,

I am from Scotland and have been vegetarian for 15 years, seems like a great online community you have got here, anyway just wanted to say hello!

also, wondered why everyone is vegetarian? for me i guess it is moral reasons, i feel that it is wrong, and in this day and age there is no need but i know everyone has different views on this, some people do it for health etc, would be nice to know different reasons and to say hello to all

Welcome to VB!! I'm vegan for moral reasons as well, though I know there are a handful of people on the forum who are veg*an for health reasons as well.

Hi Red from Scotland!

I'm new to the boards myself and new to being a vegetarian but I'll go ahead and answer your question. I have many reasons for becoming vegetarian, one is the reason that you already mentioned. We slaughter more animals then needed and in horrific inhuman ways when we don't need to, its senseless killing in my opinion. There are also many health benefits to being a vegetarian and in the past few weeks I've been surprised to discover that compared to some veggie meals meat is rather bland. I've enjoyed my foods more because I can actually taste whats in there with out the meat taking away from it all.

I'm Vegetarian for the whole deal. Health, moral, enviremental. I always go with the good arguement, and as the arguement on the other side is 'Meat is yummy'...Well, it's a no-brainer.=)

As you can tell by my screen name, I am a vegetarian due to my love of animals.

Been veggie for over 15 years too (tho' with a couple minor setbacks).

A great man once said, "Animals are my friends. I don't eat my friends."

And I concur.

So naturally it is health and environment due to that reason alone.

Hi and welcome to VB.

I originally became veg for environmental reasons, but now it's for all the reasons, health, a/r, environment, and it has become a part of my spirituality as well.

Welcome to VB!

I became vegetarian for moral reasons. Now it's also for my health and the environment.
