Hi everyone. I'm Angela from Scotland and am enjoying my new life as a veggie. It's taken a long time - none of my family or friends are vegetarian, otherwise I would have done this ages ago. Anyway, I live with my partner Mat and our 6 year old black cat, Indy - she's my baby. I have been passionate about animal welfare for as long as I can remember. I get upset at the slightest thing relating to their welbeing - following animal transporter trucks is one of the worst.... where are they going? Road kill makes me sad. Stray animals on holiday makes me sad. (My last trip to Canada saw me end up taking a beautiful calico cat to the nearest shelter - she was rehomed 5 weeks later before the winter set in). I would do anything for Indy. She is spoilt rotten. I put food out each day for my wild garden birds that include doves and pheasants. I leave cat biscuits out each night for Mr Hedgehog - he hasn't went into hibernation yet. My garden also houses lots of toads, so I put terracotta pots under the bushes for them to rest under during the day time. My family think I'm nuts, but I don't care. Animals are my world and it just doesn't feel right eating them any more! Even rescuing a greenfly from the bird water dish and watch it dry it's tiny wings in the summer sun before letting it fly away gave me immense pleasure! Hope to make lots of veggie friends here. Thanks for reading. xx

Welcome!

You'll find lots of support here! Is Mat a veggie, too?

About the transporter trucks, are you talking about the trucks taking animals to slaughter? I can not stand those. Awful. Awful.

You do a lot to help animals, keep it up! My family thinks I'm nuts, too. (I'm the only one that doesn't hunt!) It's okay. You'll get used to it.

Welcome, Angela! I was in Glasgow and Edinburgh for an extended weekend in 2003. It was positively delightful, and I think I was there for the only four and a half straight days of sunshine Scotland had that year.

Q: How many poets does it take to change a light bulb? A: 1001...one to change the bulb, 1000 to say it's already been done.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.... it's not raining in this part of Scotland today (South), yay!! . Edinburgh is only an hour away - one of my favourite cities, especially the Old Town - the Royal Mile, the Castle, etc.
