I've ignored my health long enough, I'm trying to figure out a new way of life

Hey VeggieBoards forum members.

I'm Jane,

I've been treating myself terribly lately. And by lately I mean for the past couple of years.

A friend of mine recommended me this forum, because I want to try going into a vegetarian diet. I always feel so heavy after i've eaten meat.

I eat way too much junk food, but I want to change it all.

I hope that I will find the inspiration and strength here to change my habits.

HI, Jane...welcome. Congratulations, you've taken the first step in a truly wonderful journey... I became vegan when I was 54...I'm going to be 58 on the 17th...and I feel better than when I was 28. I take no pills and have great health.

You came to a great place for support in your journey.

I didn't even realize how bad meat made me feel until i quit! I used to always feel heavy in my lower abdomen. It even often felt as though there was fermentation going on, though I wasn't really bloated. I didn't even eat meat that often
I can promise you that by doing research on nutrition, finding new recipes and ways to eat, you can totally change your life!
I've found more food and ways to prepare it than I ever did as an omni, and it's easier and cleaner to boot!
Welcome

Hi Jane,

What kinds of dishes do you enjoy? Maybe we can suggest delicious ways to make them healthy and vegetarian.

Are you dealing with any health problems?

Specific recommendations for a healthy diet include: eating more fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts and grains; cutting down on salt, sugar and fats. It is also advisable to choose unsaturated fats, instead of saturated fats and towards the elimination of trans-fatty acids."

I used to love (and stoll actually do) to make homemade burgers. One of my very favorite things. There is another food that I really enjoyed it's a sort of a paprika stew, I made it vegan, just by taking out the meat. Still tastes great.

I'm a fan of different kind of stews, I've always found that they have greater flavors.

Only mental health issues, I've been dealing with depression and anxiety for some time now.
