Lightbulb Just an idea

Hello. I've been vegetarian since age 11. I'm 18 now.
I do a lot of exercise so my diet is adjusted for that.
In the past year i've cut out eggs (as i'm intolerant) and cheese. Dairy products like cream and sweetened yoghurt i also do not eat.

However I still have milk in my tea and a cup of natural yoghurt for breakfast. I realise there are substitutes but am currently living with my family who will not buy me substitutes unless i pay myself and after paying for college each month my bank account balance is a lovely -£14.

I move out of my family home in 10 months time so am preparing myself to be able to sustain myself on a healthy vegan diet while living alone. I will have £42 pounds a week after rent & travel expenses to cover school books, food, sundries, and my debt!

My idea was that financially and health wise i'll cope better on a vegan diet so that's my goal!

Good for you.

Regarding the finances: my food bills have gone down since I stopped buying cheese and milk. I'm not 100% vegan, but I eat that way most of the time. Even with substitutes like soy milk and tofu sour cream, getting protein in the form of canned and dry beans and tofu is so incredibly affordable, it's definitely represented a net savings. Sometimes I look at how full my cart is and how low my final bill is after a grocery shop and I shake my head in disbelief.

Money has been tight for me recently too, so I sympathize with your situation. Good luck to you!

It certainly wouldn't hurt to start coupon-hunting, and maybe get yourself signed up for some rewards programs for particular products/stores....

My usual answer: I have never heard a convincing reason to eat meat.
