Hey everyone!
My name is Katy, I'm 17, homeschooled and vegetarian.
My parents are on that whole..."you can eat a pound of bacon but you can't have a carrot" diet. (Atkins) So...a nice place to run to so I don't have to watch them chewing on flesh.

No I went to public school until I was in 10th grade. I can give you all sorts of examples about my experience and others who I know who are now homeschooled but used to go to public school. If you want I can email you or if you perfer I could use this thread.

Our daughter is finishing 4th grade right now and we're thinking of switching her to homeschooling next year.
Was it your choice to switch to homeschooling? Didn't you miss all the social contacts? Do you think that overall it was a good decision?
I'm just throwing all these questions at you, because we are trying to make the right decision for our kids right now. Any information can really help.
I hope you don't mind me asking you so much after just joining this forum.

--Partly. My family had been considering it for a while before hand, and I was more than happy to allow that to happen. My mother was taken out of public school to be homeschooled as well.
Didn't you miss all the social contacts?
--Heh, not at all. Most of the children in public school are very imature for their age. It's not their fault, its just a heirachy that public school has formed. Individuality is rare. I barely had any intelligent conversaions with my peers while in public school. When I was taken out I still had some contacts with a few friends worth keeping. Some of them also have ended up in homeschool, and even though we go through different schooling programs we can still have a class together. Thanks to instant message we can research and share resources.

--Absolutly. I am not forced to do something a "certain way" which actually helps me remember what I learn. I do not in any way feel that I am missing out on social contacts at all.
The schooling program I use is called American School
My friends use Bob Jones University (a christain school)

Heh...I donno..I never kept a date. I think it's been over half a year. And I'm about 90% raw. ^.^
My aunt got really sick once..so her and my uncle went on the raw diet when I was younger...I went over to their house to eat a lot so I was already used to it.

She moved here from the phillipines when she was 6 because she was really sick. (she was being adopted by her aunt and uncle because they could afford the medicine) ANyways...she had some nasty side effects from all the chemicals they injected into her. And she had these problems for years...until she went raw and it all went away.
And wanda I'm glad I could have helped.

18 or 19 I beleive. She's 24 now and has a beautiful healthy baby girl.
