Hi my name is Stephanie and I found the site by searching for vegetarian and vegan forums and this one came up .

My husband and I ate vegan years ago and slowly over the years fell back into eating animal products and not eating healthy at all.

I started back on eating vegan today and I am not sure yet what he is going to do. I hope he will join me as we both have weight issues along with high cholesterol and some just starting blood pressure problems and I am prediabetic.

The last time we ate this way was after we read the book and watched the video, Diet for a new America and we still have them both along with his other books and other well known books on the subject. We were still fairly young and in much better shape back then and the animal cruelty was our main focus.

Now, this time around, I am reaquainting myself with the subject and cannot believe I went back to eating like that with everything I had learned but my focus this time for now is on health. I still care about the animals but right now we have to get weight off and get our cholesterol and blood pressure normal and get my blood sugar normal again.

I am excited to find this site and it also makes me sad this was not available to us back in 1994 as we would have probably never gotten off track with such wonderful resources available. I am hoping he will join me and eat vegan. I am very excited to be back on track and I am reading all I can and relearning so much I had learned before. It will not be so easy to forget this time. I plan on this time being for life. I want to continue to make the right choices this time around.

I am looking forward to learning more and getting to know everyone.

Hi Stephiewil,

I am new here also and started eating veg back in March/09 but only gave up the lacto/ovo early last month.

I have weight to lose as well.

I hope you're doing fine and sounds like you are really motivated and happy, that's awesome.

Nice to meet you!!

Nice to meet you too Angie, I am happy to be here and excited to learn all I can. I already feel a bit of a differance in my energy levels in just two days. I can't wait to see how I feel in a few weeks. I am looking forward to getting a lot healthier and finally reaching some weight goals I have wanted to reach for a long time.

It feels good to be eating so healthy and I am looking foward to a much healthier future.

i was going to do this like you did, cut out meat first and then the eggs and dairy later , but decided I really needed to do this all the way and I have no regrets. I am glad I took the plunge and I know it will make such a differance in how I look and feel.

I look forward to seeing you around on the board !!
