I'm not a complete raw-foodist, though I try to eat as much fresh veggies/fruits whenever possible. Lately I've been subsisting mainly on soy milk, granola and veggies/fruits, and the effect was wonderful...

...BUT when I tried some cooked food last friday after couple weeks of raw food, I fell asleep straightaway!! NOthing too filling, it was a bowl of minestrone...how does this happen?? Has anyone experienced something like this???

btw I experimentally tried pasta on sat and some rice today. Same results - extreme drowsiness a little while after the meal!!!

It's the same for me too.. After being raw for a while, my body starts to not-welcome cooked food. It's smartening up

I find that after any big meal I'm drawn to the couch to doze in front of the telly, I've never noticed whether it being cooked or not makes any difference.

It's probably down to having to digest cooked food, more than if it was raw.

I just searched for digestion and energy and this was the first link.

Yes,Ryudo2, I am not a complete raw foodist

because sometimes I need the numbing, calming effect

of cooked food. For example if I have to participate or

hear a mean spirited interchange or a long boring process..

sometimes the high energy I get from raw foods makes me

too aware, too jazzed, too alive. It is easier to live in a numbed

down, dumbed down culture by eating cooked foods once in

awhile.

I of course would prefer to live in a utopia where having

my total raw food energy would feel appropriate all the

time.
