I've been thinking about transitioning to raw, or mostly raw, lately. After reading the thread in the General Health Discussion forum about protein combining/complementing I've been wondering about the protein issue.
On a cooked vegan diet, grains and legumes are staples and protein combining just happens, without any thought going into it. I know grains and legumes can be eaten sprouted. But from the reading I've done on raw foods, looking at people's food logs, etc. it seems that many raw foodists eat very little in the way of grains and legumes and some eat none at all. Is it possible to get all the essential amino acids in the proper quantities on a diet of mostly vegetables, fruits and nuts/seeds?
