I just finished this book (amidst much laughing and sniffling and tears..whew). The story is absolutely fabulous. More than once, I've had to set the book aside and just let it soak in. I can't fully express how much I enjoyed it. The revelation of what happens on that day in the field, is masterful. That you, as the reader, get there faster than Clare, is all the better, but more painful to read. And the part where [spoiler] future Henry tells Clare that they have a baby in a couple of years, and she thanks him, quietly]...oh man, I thought I might become deyhdrated.
Anyway, I think it has great potential as a film. I'm not sure about Eric Bana in the lead role though. I see that it's opening in wide release on Christmas Day. That'd be a cheery flick for the Holidays.
The ones I pity are the ones who never stick out their neck for something they believe, never know the taste of moral struggle, and never have the thrill of victory. - Jonathan Kozol
