I just bought a new clock-alarm with an audio CD player that lets you wake up to an audio CD. Which CDs would you suggest? I would want something lively but not unpleasant (or else I'd be tempted to take it out and not use it again). I also have a CD player just outside my bathroom, and I usually play something while shaving or brushing my teeth, etc.

Right now my favorite CD for this purpose is a "best of" Lita Ford, who is a heavy metal guitarist and singer, but her songs would probably be considered "lite" metal. (I'm not really a heavy metal listener, and would not want Rob Zombie or anything like that.)

So, what kind of music gets your blood pumping?

I guess part two of this question is suppose I couldn't use a ready-made CD but had to burn individual songs onto a CD. Which individual songs would you recommend? The two that come to my mind are "YMCA" by the Village People and "(Let's Get) Physical" by Olivia Newton John. But which individual tunes would you recommend? (I'm kind of an "oldies" listener, so anything appropriate in the 60s-80s category would be a plus.)

black eyed peas "hey mama" should get you shakin'

but i got my boyfriend one of those a while ago, and from personal experience i know that you need something with a smooth beginning because you'll jump if it's starts with like a crazy beat or something. i liked waking up to "living on the edge" by aerosmith .... but that's just me

and if i had one for my own house i'd do the vines " ride with me"

The album I'm Wide Awake It's Morning by Bright Eyes? *

Wake Up and Smell the Coffee by The Cranberries.

...or the song "Hard to Stay Awake" by Morten Abel?

(* this cd is actually very good. Now I wouln't mind waking up to it, but I don't suppose our tastes are that similar...)

Too funny.

I would play Disturbed-Down with the Sickness, and then go back to bed.

Actually I used to wake up to Metallica. I know I am a freak, but it woke me up.

I always listen to Guns and Roses and Thrice each morning, but I don't think that's quite what you are looking for...WHat about Blondie? I love their music! Maria and Atomic always put me in a great mood

Anything upbeat and happy works for me. If I put something calming or mild on to wake me up I sleep right through it (which has caused a couple problems in the past)

actually, even I don't listen to that.

Meshuggah - "I" usually does the trick these days.

Currently I wake up to a quiet voice from the bottom of the stairs saying….”daddy, daddy, can I go downstairs now” This usually happened at around 6 AM.

I just to love waking up to Bob Marley in the summer time, it was such a great way to start the day. I would also often wake up with something a little harder too. Usually Metalica.
