I think all the members of Rise Against are vegan and PETA advocates... so my boyfriend says. Not my type of music usually. I guess they're hardcore.

Heh, I dunno. I don't listen to lyrics.

ebola

they broke up and are in a current state of reunion. they had a few lyrics early on (the song the order that shall be) that would lead one to believe they were *******s about the veganism stance but towards the later stages they were more about education and personal choice than militance. they were more about being *******s about straight edge.

and they are one of my favorite bands that successfully merged hardcore and metal.

other hardcore/metal/metalcore bands that i can think of off the top of my head (i'm going with at least the vocalist being vegan):

despair/buried alive/terror - scott vogel has been vegan for quite some time, i'm not sure he still is....but, the last time i talked to him he was.

first blood

time in malta

energy (a new band that sounds like dag nasty mixed with black sails era a.f.i.)

morning again

between the buried and me

refused

there were a ton of others, but my mind is not focusing properly right now, not to mention plenty of bands that weren't heavy enough for me to put in here.

Who knows eh. The people who would know, would probably say they 'sold out' anyway. [They're my favourite band, so I'm not dissing them ]

A few Aussie bands, some might fit into this genre, but I'd say more punk/rock. I'll post them anyway

Gyroscope -bassist is vegetarian.

Horsell Common - bassist is vegan/is proud of his meat is murder sticker on his bass. Singer worked for WSPA.

Trial Kennedy - drummer is vegan/former WSPA worker. Bassist vegetarian.

Kisschasy - singer vegan/Animals Australia youth Ambassador. The two guitarists are vegetarian/vegan.

Cro-Mags( john joseph even wrote a book called "meat is for pussies", Earth Crisis, Choke Hold, Gorilla Biscuits (idk if the entire band is vegan but the singer Civ def is. Czech out the song "cats and dogs". One of my favorites)

For lesser known, more current bands, Band Of Mercy is a hardcore band out of texas. Really dig both of their records. One is called Vegan Power...So, yeah...They're pretty serious about it....It's kind of cheeky, but the message is there.

There is a war, and me must fight
But we won't win if we don't eat right
Billions are suffering, so we must prevail
You want Vegan Power?
You better eat KALE!!

Tofu, rice, and beans - BEANS!
And dark leafy greens - GREENS!
Fruits and nuts and seeds - SEEDS!
Partake of these to smash enemies

Its a pretty good list, but missing lots of bands ie Ebullition bands, Antischism, Vermiform bands, etc. as well as a ton of Crass/Conflict era UK bands.

And not all members of the listed bands were Vegs. And Vegan Reich, Statement and Raid were hardline bands that were antigay.
