I don't think we have a thread like this already. If you've been reading the book and want to discuss what happens use this thread to do it. If you haven't read the book yet you'll probably want to avoid this thread as it (obviously) contains spoilers.

oh, my, god, seriously. I knew knew KNEW he'd turn out to be evil. The thing about Bill really depressed me, and I was almost certain that Fleur was going to leave him, so that was a, er, nice surprise. I also was really really hoping there'd be some sort of tiny loophole for both Sirius and, now, Dumbledore. I was hoping Sirius would somehow have survived, that the curtain didn't really mean death. I was hoping Dumbledore'd be powerful enough to just jump up in the middle of everything and just say 'KIDDING!!!' but no! Harsh reality!!!!!!

um, maybe someone can answer this for me, but uh....I was almost certain that we were supposed to learn a lot more about harry's past in this book. things like what his parents did for a living--and why they had so much money to leave him, why they lived where they lived, what they did for the OOTP and all that in more depth...but there was NOTHING! their names were mentioned like 3 times apeice, it was as if they had nothing to do with the book at all. Im depressed becaue I was really looking forward to learning more about all that.

oh man though. Tonks/Lupin....how cute!

You didn't find out about Harry's parents because you are going to find out in the next book that harry's father = HWSNBN, and that Hermione is Harry's sister. Mark my words.

I still don't quite believe that theory.

On an unrelated note, did anyone else remember Blaise Zabini from Book 1?

Wow.

Just wow.

Book 7 should be interesting.

I cried.

Wow.

Snape lovers everywhere should be disappointed. To say the least. I was expecting it to be a trick. To fool the death eaters, give Snape credit for killing him without him actually doing it.

No more Hogwarts. Who would have guessed? Seriously?

WOW.

How many years til 7 comes out, you think?

I still like Snape...can't help it. I am mad at him though. I almost suspected something like this when I read some JK comments about Snape in the past.

I'm still bawling. Just... no. Why?

And the whole Harry/Ginny thing threw me for a loop. I wasn't expecting it really, though in restrospect I feel like I should have. The Tonks/Lupin thing surprised me, too.

I thought there would be more Ron/Hermione action, really. I'm a little disappointed by that. JUST SNOG ALREADY JEEZ.

Wow, just finished it. I really didn't expect a lot of what happened. I did expect what happened to Dumbledore, though; I think that had been telegraphed pretty clearly. I'm still very sad about it.

So... the description that mugglenet said describes the Half-Blood Prince (see http://www.mugglenet.com/books/futur...ok6facts.shtml) -- they were wrong about that. I'm glad, too -- because I was disappointed that it was "revealed" so early.

In my opinion this is a great installment in the story... more complex and with more emotional depth than some of the previous books... and the saga promises to wind up awesomely. I'm happy.

Now I want to read it again, more slowly... though I'll give Kirk a crack at it, first.

I just finally got a chance to read the last chapters and....Oho!

I can't believe Harry isn't coming back!! I don't even know what to think, it's kind of like the series ended with this one, and seven is a loooooooong epilogue. Oh dear, i still can't believe this. losing Sirius was sad, losing DD is devastating

I forgive JK for book 5. I think this is my new favorite.

Eta: I just realized my two favorites are the only ones in the series where Harry doesn't fight Voldemort in one forn or another. Haha, I must really hate him

Personally, for a few minutes I was confusing "snogging" with "shagging" and wondering why Ginny was such a ho.

I like Harry & Ginny though.

ROTFL!! That's awesome. "woot! orgy in the common room everyone!"

I realyl didn't like Harry with Ginny. It didn't seem very set up...it was like, Ginny fancied Harry for so long and then whoosh! all fo sudden it pops into his head "hmm, that Ginny has got it goin' on!" But alas, they're no more, so I can't complain.

I can't think of anything I didn't like in this book, besides that ******* keeper and the H/G (OTP omg!11one!) For the americans did anyone think there was a lot more british slang in this one? Like 'trainers' and 'row' instead of 'shoes' and 'fight'? Maybe I just never noticed it before. I can't believe JKR wrote this one so well after number 5. I cannot WAIT for number 7!! How many years so you think it'll be??

Hmmm, I wasn't so shocked by the death of Albus Dumbledore, as, considering the way he was described in the previous 550 pages, it didn't came to me as a very big surprise. I never expected that the book would end this way though (referring to the last three pages).

I was surprised that trainers was kept, but favorite was there.

The Harry/Ginny thing reminded me of Peter Parker and Mary Jane in Spiderman Two, how he rejects her. Grr.

I got teary eyed, too. Not when he died, but during the descriptions of the funeral, and reading about the characters being upset. I also expected Dumbledore's portrait to talk to them, not sleep.

I wasn't shocked by Dumleldore's death. I agree with B on that one. I was pretty much waiting for the Harry/Ginny thing. As far as for him suddenly liking her, hey he's a teenager, that's not unheard of...Hell, I know adults like that. It took him some time to recognize his feelings for her. He said earlierish(pretty sure that's not a word) in the book that once on their way back to school, Harry forgot that Ginny didn't hang around them much at school because of Dean. He had gotten used to her being around during the summer. Anyways, I thought this would happen sooner or later. The Lupin/Tonks thing suprised me a bit. I mean, I thought they might make a decent pair in the last book and there were rumors that the two would hook up. But, I didn't really know if JK would go there or not.

I was thinking Regulus at first, too. Hmmmm...

I think Harry has his work cut out for him finding the horcruxes. I can't imagine having that kind of resolve at age 16, after seeing two loved ones die and... I would just buckle under the pressure.

Book 7 is going to be so good.

By the way, did you notice how Frodo-like Harry's position currently is?
