I see this over and over again: barely capable musicians who are famous worldwide, they are a houshold name, verses musicians of astounding musical skill, wisdom, and passion -- and their name is familiar to maybe a few 100,000 thousand people, if that many.
Thank glob for the internet, so I can become familiar with musicians like Bola Sete -- I'm glad I found out about him but it saddens me that I never heard of him until today.
Worse -- there must be 1000's more superb musicians who I have never heard of.
Check out more college and net radio. That's where I hear most of the unheard musicians. They surely won't be found on commericial radio. It's a shame really, but in a way I like it because they don't get played out.
