I just heard the theme song to Miami Vice on the radio this morning. It brings back some good memories. I recall trying to dress like Sonny Crockett. I wore a white jacket & pink shirt to school thinking that I was totally cool.

Any fans out there?

I never watched the show. I was a teen when it was on, and I was too busy with other things.

I watched it. The first season just came out on DVD not too long ago. I don't think I'm going to buy it though. I already have to many tv series on dvd that I'll probably never watch. *sigh*

I watched it religiously! And I had a grey Sonny Crockett jacket that I wore to school too. Looked boss with my mullet.

I loved the theme too.

My dad was a huge fan of the show back in the day. HOW HUGE YOU ASK?

My little brother's name is SONNY.

That coupled with the fact that our last name just happens to be CROCKETT, and you've got one crazy living memorial to the show Miami Vice.

I won't even get started on my brother Davy. ( I'm being serious.)

LOL- Balabean, that is great.

Found this at: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086759/ regarding the Miami Vice theme:

Quote:
A trivia note: That was Neal Schon (from the group, Journey) who did the guitar work for Jan Hammer's Miami Vice theme. The opening title theme song was altered slightly, later in the first season to give it a more Caribbean sound.

If that was indeed Neal Schon, that would explain why it rocks the hizzy...he was definitely a good 70's/80's guitarist!

One question: Caribbean sound? Do you think of that theme when you think of Caribbean music? I tend to think of Calypso music personally.......

Haha, i remember watching it as a kid. I don't think it would appeal to me much anymore. However, during my mullet days (2 years ago, haha) I did purchase a white suit and a pink t-shirt. I still have it. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a white suit these days!

Calypso, Soca, Chutney. They're all awesome!

I'm in love with a Soca artist called Destra.... sigh.

OK, after reading back over this thread, I feel it's only fair to give a shout out to Rico Tubbs, and Elvis the alligator, the full-time resident of Crockett's boat the St. Vitus' Dance.

lol, scary I still remember that. And their Scarab boat was sooooooo kickin'!

^^^ I actually remember seeing the majority of those tracks on the show! I'd forgotten about "You Belong to the City".

I'd also forgotten (or managed to block out) hurachees.
