Pearl Jam's Beneroya Hall.

I walked by Beneroya Hall on Tuesday ... what a great performance - I like that Eddie talks in several parts too. They also do the song from Big Fish in there...

I'll second (third, I suppose) the Nirvana Unplugged mention and add a few personal faves:

Phish: A Live One.

Neko Case: The Tigers Have Spoken.

Roger Waters: The Wall Live in Berlin.

Portishead: Live in NYC.

Alice in Chains: Unplugged.

I'd forgotten about Live in NYC, Trent. Good stuff.

Remembering that one also made me remember

Spiritualized: Royal Albert Hall October 10, 1997 Live.

OH! AIC unplugged -- definitely incredible.

The Unplugged series was so great. I wish PJ would have released their unplugged performance; it was one of the best, IMO.

I recall being a tad disapointed by PJ Unplugged, and always suspected that was why it wasn't officially released. I think Nirvana's was the most interesting and the "coolest" but my vote for best Unplugged performance would go to AIC by a mile - just so musical! Top five Unpluggedses:

1. Alice in Chains

2. Nirvana

3. 10,000 Maniacs

4. Page & Plant

5. Stone Temple Pilots

(...of the ones I can remember

I'm not usually a fan of live albums, but I do enjoy my cassette bootleg of a couple of Steely Dan's '74 shows.

I'll have to dig into the archives to answer this one, 'cause they sure don't make 'em like they used to...

*rummage, rummage*

Ella in Rome: The Birthday Concert (1958)

Johnny Cash at San Quentin (1969)

The Complete Ella in Berlin: Mack the Knife (1960) and Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison (1968) are both very close runners-up here, and I'm sure fans could argue all day about which album in each of the pairs is better, but the fact is, they're all great.
