I had a great time at Sundance. Had a lot of fun. Made some great contacts. Saw some fantastic films. Disagree thoroughly (as do many others I spoke with) with Daily Variety that the features were stronger than the docs. The docs were consistently my favorite films, though I did miss a few features I wanted to see. 26 films and I still have about 14 more I want to see. Here's hoping many more get distributed this year.
Fave docs:
The Corporation
Metallica: Some Kind of Monster
Citizen King
Overnight
There were a couple of good docs at Slamdance, too:
Faster
Orwell Rolls in His Grave
More that I liked Sundance:
(sort of a hybrid)
The Five Obstructions (very inspirational)
(features)
Primer (very stoked that this, my favorite feature, won the top prize!)
One Point O
Good Bye, Lenin!
Mon Idole
September Tapes
Zatoichi
November
Haute Tension
Missed/Hope to catch later:
The Woodsman
Super-Size Me
Napoleon Dynamite
Edge of America
Employee of the Month
Motorcycle Diaries
The Machinist
The Dreamers
The Yes Men
Brother to Brother
Chrystal
Maria Full of Grace
We Don't Live Here Anymore
The Control Room
Word Wars
Remember Me
Nina's Tragedies
There's a handful of others I'd add, but they're not as high on my list, and this post is becoming too long for casual reading, so...
