Lady GaGa, Madonna, and The Male Gaze.

Go read it. You will love GaGa even more.

That was a pretty good article. It said what I wanted to say, but more eloquently. I now have a new term to add to my repetoire: Male gaze. Yes, it's the way everything seems set in a male gaze is what I was trying to say in my first post. Even when women try to come out and be openly sexual they do it in a way that makes it strictly for men. Like how there's sexy women in men's videos, but then we watch women's videos and see sexy women again. And I hope that Lady Gaga and similar artists will eventually break that gaze. I get excited every time I find something that seems to come from a strictly women's POV with no attention to a man's POV. Like Christina Aguilera's Woo Hoo. It's the way that everything's centred around men and women are meant to be the "madonna", but then a few "whores" come along who come and be sexy and I guess maybe they are because they act all sexy but it seems with no attention at all to their own desires. You don't get that vibe in Woo Hoo. And that's what I like about it even if nothing else. Because I hate that "male gaze" and how everything seems so trapped into it like nobody knows that there is even a different way of looking.

She looks soooo much prettier as a brunette! Looks like she lost weight as well as going blonde, she looked better before on both accounts

I read somewhere on internet that the reason she went blonde is that people kept mistaking her for Amy Winehouse. I would have probably done the same . I agree though, she did look good brunette.

I'm not a chronological young one anymore, but I love Lady Gaga!

I do not understand/What it is I've done wrong/Full of holes/Check for pulse/Blink your eyes/One for yes/Two for no/I have no idea what I am talking about/I am trapped in this body and can't get out-Radiohead

i appreciate her im not a huge fan or anything, but i like what she does. its not that new but then nothing is really izzit ?? i like her cuz she makes an effort to put a bit of much needed theatre back into pop music.

>>something i dont appreciate is seeing people verbally s*** on another persons taste in music in a totally serious way after that person has expressed enthusiasm for it. its pretty bloody rude to do that to someone<<

Don't be so touchy. Thinking I was in the other thread, I posted something appreciative about another singer, then realized I was in this thread and that anything positive said about someone else would probably be assumed to be "not very appreciative" of LG. I tried to delete the post entirely, couldn't, so edited it so that it doesn't say anything at all.

Good God.

Mmmm, they used to play that all the time at Christmas. It's not like the greatest song, but it did make me laugh. I think Space Cowboy did the lyrics? At any rate, I do like this song better than the traditional stuff they play at Christmas when it at least makes me snicker to myself.

you know what?

i adore her so much because we are so similar. besides being extremely close in age, she is doing the same things i'm doing, but on a large, public, scale. Sleeping with men when she'd rather sleep with the girl he's with, violence and sex and death all mixed up into one angry horny (young!) chick. i can't believe she's only on album 1.5...

i totally wanna be her BFF. christ, we'd set s*** on fire just by looking at it.

shes infuriating and obnoxious and a reflecting pool and a bad ass ***** all at the same time.

I think Telephone is one of the top 3 music videos of all time.

A Gaga appreciation thread on Veggieboards...I am home.

Don't get me started on my love/respect/appreciation for Gaga.

All I have to say is...if you get Gaga, you love(or at least like) Gaga. Kind of like veganism...

If only Gaga were vegan *sighs*

p.s. I think I make one convincing Poker-Face era Gaga...

I really like Dance in the Dark, but Teeth would make an awesomely bizarre video. I'd also like to see what she'd do with Monster. A song about date rape in video form could be a massive fail, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Gaga.

My spin instructor played Teeth a couple of weeks ago and every time he wanted us to go really fast he'd yell "SHOW ME YOUR TEETH!" It was like the best workout evs.

she's hot, she's cute, she's fluff. she's making a quick mint with music that will not endure. how do i blame her for that? after all, she's what the masses demand. blame them, not her.

Mod Note:

Some posts have been moved from The Lady GaGa Dissing Thread to The Lady Gaga Appreciation Thread, and visa versa.

Remember there are two threads. Love her or hate her - whatever you choose - just make sure you show your support or distaste in the proper thread, please.
