I've seen plenty of threads about music and about veg*n musicians, but I'm curious what other people on this board are doing musically. What instrument do you play? What style do you prefer? What type of ensembles are you in? How long have you been playing for? Who are your musical heroes?



I'll start:



I'm a saxophonist, as my username may suggest. I play primarily bari and tenor. I do own an alto, but I don't play it in public, and I've only tried soprano once. I would love to try out a bass saxophone someday, but I don't have that kind of ca$h... I'm primarily a jazz guy, but I'm also in symphonic band at school. Small ensemble jazz is my favorite thing, but big band has its merits as well. I'm in two jazz combos, one playing bari with a trombone player and a rhythm section and one playing tenor with a trumpet player. I'd also love to form a Morphine-esque band at some point when I have more time. (They were a rock band with bari sax playing the role that lead guitar usually takes.) I've been playing saxophone for around 7 years, but I started piano a year before that. Unfortunately, I've let my piano playing fall by the wayside in the past half-year, but I'm trying to pick it back up... My musical heroes include: Pepper Adams, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Morphine, Eric Dolphy, and many, many more.



OK, there's my fairly garbled and difficult to understand musical biography. Please share yours.

I play guitar, drums and bass. I record my own music playing all the instruments myself. Oh, and i shout too

I play guitar but I wouldn't call myself a musician. I have a few musician friends - which is the main reason I don't call myself one. Ha Ha.

I would not call myself a musician but i can play guitar, mandolin and piano but not much of any of them i also play around on a xylophone harmonica and a djembe drum (i have musical ADD), mostly though im a recording student so i spend alot of the time in a studio, a recording console is my favorite instrument
