A Week Meat-Free

I haven't eaten meat in a week! I've been mostly vegan but I'm staying with my parents until my new lease starts so I've had some eggs/cheese. Last time I went vegan (which is 3 years ago tomorrow) it was so easy! It's hard this time. I think my depression makes it difficult to commit to anything because I don't have any motivation and I feel like everything I do is hopeless? idk. Anyways, I'll just celebrate this week of no meat and hope it gets easier!

Congrats!! Emotions can very easily wreck out best and healthiest intentions. Energy flows where our a-tension goes.

Take it easy on yourself and try to remember how much your cleaner and kinder consumption attempts enrich your life and that of every other living thing every chance you get.

May your vegan momentum find it's healthy groove once again. Peace.

Are you doing therapy (counseling and/or medication) to treat your depression?

Congratulations on your week meat free, you rock!

Depression can make everything difficult, you're a hero for making a big change right now even though it's hard. Just take it a day at a time.

How long have you been depressed for? Do you have anyone you can talk to about it?

I've had depression most of my life. It runs in my family. I'm being treated and I'm actually in remission right now but my energy is still very low. I'm working through it in therapy and I take meds for it. My mental symptoms are cleared up but the physical ones are still going strong. It's really weird to feel great but not be able to do anything lol. But yeah I'm fine it's just a part of my life.

Good luck and hang in there. Are you doing any sort of physical exercise? Sometimes, when my depression rears its ugly head, and I've taken my meds, a long walk somethings helps out, even when it's raining.

Just remember even if you goof up how much of a difference you are making just by making the conscious effort to avoid animal products. It's something to be proud of, especially in the face of depression when your brain is telling you none of it really matters anyway.

Glad you are staying Vegan in those circumstances. As far as your depression goes you should look into the supplements Ashwagandha and 5-HTP.
Also when you mentioned that you are meat free for this week I wanted to share this video I found on You tube with you. Its a recipe for a Vegan roasted nut loaf, a great vegan stand in for actual meat loaf
