I looked up flat earth society and came up with www.flat-earth.org and on their Q and A page...

19. What is the "Springfield Effect"?

The Springfield Effect is the name given to the phenomenon by which every place named Springfield is hard-linked in hyperspace to every other place of this name. In other words, there is only one place named Springfield, but it is "linked" to various locations in the world.

20. Does Idaho exist

No. The existence of Idaho is a lie, fabricated by a conspiracy of cartographers, as is England (see question 10).

21. What about North Dakota?

That doesn't exist either.

22. Any other places which are believed to exist but really don't?

Yes, Australia. And then there are the cryptogeographica, places such as Kadath, Carcosa, Hobbiton, Narnia, Hy-Brasil, Hell and such whose existence has not been satisfactorily proven.

Is this bad humor or are they just off their rockers entirely?

If only that were so.

This HAS to be a joke. Did you look at the "Mr.Teapot Campaign"? The random Mr.Teapot quote... I don't know, it all seems too silly to be a bunch of crazies thinking it is true

A fun read anyhow

It sure was fun, ninypants1.... but I could picture someone believing it's true.

Some of that looks like people just trying to be eccentrically bizarre just for the sake of being so.

There are people who believe the Earth is flat ......to these people, I suggest that their brains also lack a third dimension which would explain a great deal about their opinions

Ha! I loved it! Definitely a joke. This has become one of my favorite websites (right behind www.zombo.com and www.realultimatepower.net).

Ok, just looked at the website in more detail. This is a brilliant joke created by people who have entirely too much pop-culture knowledge.

The Mr. Teapot campaign in the category of Pataphysical Engineering...Alfred Jarry (playwright) coined the term pataphysics and some of his contempories picked up on it. The Beatles even make mention of pataphysical science in "Maxwell's Silver Hammer."

This also cracks me up: "The original flat earth was confined, restricted, and twisted into a perverse spherical shape by a conspiracy of TELEVISION BROADCASTERS in an attempt to realize their dream of TOTAL HUMAN MIND CONTROL through subsurviant captive homogonized market share."

Thanks for the laughs, Mikie!!

I live in North Dakota....people tell us all the time that we don't exist and that we don't matter.. that we are "good for nothing"....

I have also heard that they should give us away to Canada...
