If you feed a human baby human milk is that considered vegan?

Why or why not?

Yes as long as the mother is vegan. It's natural to feed babies milk from their mothers no matter what species they are.

It's vegan because there is consent of the human mother to feed her baby her milk. With breastfeeding there is no exploitation of a non-consenting animal's body secretions.

I will quote my earlier response to the same question:

Quote:
It's completely unvegan to breastfeed, just like it's completely unvegan to have any contact with any material that comes from humans. While I am writing this, I put all my saliva in separate cups so I don't ingest it, and pluck all my hairs before they get to grow, so I wouldn't be wearing any human materials -- for the same reason, when my skin cells die, I immediately scratch them off. I have also removed all my nails.

I think it could be vegan even if the mother isn't vegan. We don't classify food animals as "even less suitable for vegans" if the animals ate animal products, right? It's just all not suitable. I realize the child would be getting some animal products through breast milk if the mother were not vegan, but it's hardly on par with the baby drinking cow milk or eating eggs.

I think it is because human milk is for human babies, just as cow's milk is for calves.

I was just curious to see what others thought.

Great! I've never met a vegan who thought otherwise, I'm happy to say. I've heard some crazy people believe that, and a lot of omni's seem to think that vegans think that, but I've never met an actual, not crazy vegan who thinks humans shouldn't be given human milk in infancy.

Breastfeeding a human baby with human breast milk is vegan yes in my book. I did hear someone say that it wasn't because it is technically an animal product (humans being animals) but I think that is beyond ridiculous personally.

vegans object to consuming milk of cows, goats, other species, but agree that the cows milk should be for their calves, now its natural and acceptable for that species to feed its young as that's who it is intended for. Its the same for humans making milk to feed their young.
