This ad proves beyond a reasonable doubt that the Republican machine is out for blood, that John McCain is an unconscionable politician, and that their/his estimation and appraisal of the American electorate is less than flattering.

To this point, the Obama campaign has not responded. Should they and if so, how?

I think it's just plain amusing. Maybe it will ring true with the target audience, I dunno. It could just as easily be spun to say he's the right one. It's just kinda silly to get worked up over, since the mudslinging has been pretty heavy both ways.

Nah. It's not satirical, but snarky. It's not trying to paint him as the anti-Christ however, just as a fluff celebrity.

I'm having problems hearing it. I wish politicians would brag more about their own accomplishments rather than tear their opponent apart, so I'm glad they haven't said anything. I still won't vote for him, but Obama has been a lot more mature thus far than McCain.

It's kinda hard to be more mature than McCain though. Maybe in a grave.

Does McCain actually make any commercials talking about himself? Every one that I can recall seeing is about Obama. It's getting very ridiculous. Almost all of them have had some negative ads but not this many this early.

I wonder too, if the attack ads (on both sides) are easier for PACs to make. There are all sorts of rules about funding wrt supporting a candidate, but there are virtually none about ripping the other one to shreds.

I meant to say that this is not a real ad...

They are certain things, like the required tag "I'm John McBlame and I approve this..." The use of copy written movie footage, etc. So Obama shouldn't respond.

These are just my feelings as a person who works in television, and deals with politicians daily.

Gotcha. I thought you meant that it was an intentionally created satire of an actual ad.

I think that a lot of the attack/response stuff isn't done by the candidates themselves.

I'm pretty sure they have control of who runs their campaigns, so a lot of the responsibility lies with the politicians.

is jon stewart a republican attack machine?

http://www.politicalarticles.net/blo...h-jon-stewart/

calling attention to the hype is going out for blood? obama could respond by taking up smoking again, preferably newports, having a few domestic beers while working on his bowling game. and he should have done this instead of going to europe.

Yeah, but I lot of the attack crap comes from 3rd parties. I'm not saying they're completely in the dark, but the really nasty stuff I remember from '04 in particular, wasn't from the official campaigns.

I had never seen that ad before...I have to say I laughed through the whole thing...there is nothing in that ad that would make me vote for anyone or prevent me from voting for anyone....its just more political weirdness..

I hit the mute button during most of the political ads now, I listen to them once and from then on its the mute button.
