TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) - A high school student says he may file a lawsuit against a physical education teacher who took a Mexican flag he had brought for Cinco de Mayo and put it in the garbage.

Clint Straatman denies Froylan Camelo's version of events but said he took the flag Monday because "white kids" might have hurt the 16-year- old. He said he put it in a garbage can because he had no place else to keep it.

Now im all for deporting illegal immigrants, but to throw a legal immigrants flag in the trash who is proud of his mexican heritage on a mexican holiday is a bit over the top.

It's hard to tell who is telling the truth in these cases but the teacher's admitted reason for putting the flag in the trash pushes me over to the kid's side.

I reckon the teacher is talking bollocks. But I think the student is rude to be speaking to an interviewer in Spanish in an English-speaking country

You can't put a monetary value on this. I can understand a person being angered over this, but filing a lawsuit is going overboard IMO.

Um.. there is absolutely and utterly nowhere to put a flag but in the trash? Uh huh.

I'd wait 'til he put his mobile (cell phone) down on a table for a moment, grab it, and throw it in the toilet proclaiming "but there was no where else to put it!!".

Love the post? Why not buy the T-shirt!

Sounds like he's just a successfully integrated immigrant

Anyways, all flags belong in the trash IMO.

I no longer post here after VB was sold in 2012. (See my profile page for details.)
