I was wondering what other fellow veggieboarder's opinion on smoking Marijuana is?

Do you smoke or have you?

Do you think weed should be legal or illegal?

Which is more dangerous in your opinion, drinking or smoking?

I know a lot of vegetarians who smoke...wondering if it is just a local thing or a trend.

Can weed be used to treat depression and anxiety successfully?

I also know a few friends who smoke a little each day, take no other meds or supplements and are fit as a fiddle and their depression is gone and anxiety as well.

I know this is controversial but I am really curious as to what everyone's opinion is.

Dunno.

I don't need drugs because I was born this way.

Do you smoke or have you?

I have and still do on occasion

Do you think weed should be legal or illegal?

Legal (it's already decriminalized in Canada)

Not doing either

Weed might be beneficial, but we need to drop all our preconceptions about what it is and what it does before any real meaningful research can be done with it. Too many institutions are too fearful of being seen as endorsing (illegal) drug use, and research leads down that dangerous path. Too may people have too much invested in 'drugs' (Big Pharma) and would hate for anything to change that. What if 50% of the people on antidepressants could just smoke a dime a week and get off the (legal) dope? Billions of dollars, that's what.

I never got into smoking it much, but overall I believe it is a lesser evil than any other mind altering substance.

The harm marijuana DOES do is mostly due to it's legal status. Not to mention that we have a prison system flooded with petty marijuana offenders. If it were made legal and made into a legitimate industry much of the harm it currently does would no longer occur. So yes, marijuana should absolutely be legal.

Do you smoke or have you?

I smoked in the past but have not for many years.

Do you think weed should be legal or illegal?

Legal

Which is more dangerous in your opinion, drinking or smoking?

Drinking by far

Can weed be used to treat depression and anxiety successfully?

I do not know; further research would be needed. I agree with Sketchy that Big Pharma would not like it. From what experience I have, I think its a possibility.

I use to smoke pot daily for most of my youth. It ended up giving me severe panic attacks! I can't see it being beneficial for treating depression at all!!

GhostUser 02-08-2008 10:15 AM

Do you smoke or have you?

yeah, pretty regularly, but not on a daily basis.

Do you think weed should be legal or illegal?

I think it should be legal, but its not something I think about much cuz its decriminalised where i live.

Which is more dangerous in your opinion, drinking or smoking?

They both have their downsides if consumed in excess, but alcohol is way more dangerous to society. if ppl are going to smoke weed on a regular basis, I encourage them to get a vapouriser, cuz the tar in weed is not good for your lungs over the long term.

Can weed be used to treat depression and anxiety successfully?

I would not recommend it, especially for anxiety. Anyone suffering from either of those should avoid regular use as I reckon it makes it worse.

While I think weed should be legal for ADULTS, I do not think teens should smoke it because there are various negative effects especially on concentration. I believe the effects of any substance varies greatly with individuals.

Mod post

Since marijuana is illegal in most of the areas where VBers live, VB rules prohibit them from discussing their use of it. It's fine to promote decriminalizing marijuana and give reasons that apply to everyone. Anyone who wants to do that is welcome to start another thread.
