A discussion from another thread inspired me to create this one:

http://politicalquiz.net/

This is a multi-linear quiz using the following scales:

(Social) Conservative vs. Progressive

Capitalist Purist vs. Social Capitalist

(Civil) Libertarian vs. Authoritarian

Pacifist vs. Militarist

You can also use your calculated score to see which candidate is closest to your views.

Mike Gravel 98%.

Something was wrong with the quiz though since Obama was 2nd and Kucinich only 3rd.

You probably had a higher civil libertarian score since Obama leans civil libertarian and Gravel is a civil libertarian according to this quiz.

I rate as a NeoCon Republican. Dick Cheney asked me to go hunting with him, for "the most dangerous game" whatever that is.

Huh... that quiz made me:

10 - Progressive (12 being the highest)

8 - Social Capitalist

6 - Moderate

2 - Pacifist (0 being the lowest)

"Democrat"

Which puts Obama (who I think is hiding something... so voting for him makes me uneasy) 88% compatible, and Kuchinich second.

LOL Actually I'm not entirely... more along a "green party", and actually just an independent.

This quiz pretty well sums up the problem with American politics and this comment left by a previous poster explains my feelings:

An internet quiz is not supposed to work, just like internet polls and petitions. It's just a given that it's really quite meaningless.

The test only assumes your political philosophy bases on the criteria and the candidates only by similarity, not by the likeability factor, i.e. Edwards may rate higher on the list, but you may like Kucinich more.

Guys, it's just a quiz that computes where you are based on answers. It's fun to see how accurate or not it is.

I know...but I have qualms with its validity...the scheme of classification doesn't really gain much through adding dimensions at the cost of the parsimony it loses. For example, what does the "progressive/conservative" spectrum really say?

It looked like just a mix of social values for the social conservative, and economic values for the progressive. It seems like the creator could have just used the Capitalist/Socialist spectrum and the Libertarian/Authoritarian spectrum to cover domestic policy and then add in Pacifism/Militarism for foreign policy.

Stupid test, I align myself much more with anarchist/libertarian politics. The questions in the test are too North American-centric, and there isn't anywhere near enough information given to make an informed choice.
