It happens to all of us...

You're out with some friends and they want to got to a bar/night club.

But the establishment only serves piss water pilsners.

You want to be sociable and raise you glass with friends, so which beer do you choose?

Bud, Miller, Coors, or some local/regional brew?

Personally, if I have to "slum", I'll just stick with Bud. If I want a light beer I'll choose miller light.

Coors light is so bad, I don't even have the words to describe it.

So what beer will you tolerate if there are no other choices?

Happiness is not the result of a mathematical equation comparing the good times and bad times someone has had. It is a state of mind.

Sneak in a sip of someone's Coors first, and then you'll be chugging either of the other two.

Personally I'd go with Miller Light.. but then I'm not a beer snob.

I'm a beer snob, although I don't drink much (beer) anymore.

I don't go any lower than Heineken, which you can find just about anywhere. One of the few benefits of living in Texas is that Shiner Bock is also available pretty much everywhere, and is pretty good.

Friends don't let friends drink BudMillerCoorsCorona.

I'm a poor college student. I am happy with PBR. Corona is a step-up for me.

I won't drink Budweiser or Busch though. Yuck.

Corona with a lime/lemon is decent. If there is a local brew where you are it can often be good as well.

I've (unfortunately) been to bars where even Heineken wasn't available.

So you're saying that you just wouldn't drink if it wasn't there?

When I have a beer I drink one of the local micro brews, there are quite a hand full with in a short walking distance from my apartment e.g. Gritty McDuffs, Sebago Brewing Company, Shipyard, and Geary's . I'm partial to Gritty McDuffs but the others are "good stuff" as well. If you walk into to just about any restaurant in Portland and say "give me a Grittys" your going to end up with a good pint of beer.

The taste of Heineken makes me think someone's cat peed in my beer. But that's just me. I'll have a Yuengling, a philly classic (you can say "gimme a lager" in any Philly bar and this is what you'll get) or a PBR (stupid hipsters) if I don't want to look uncool. But I'm a Bud Lite guy 9 times out of ten, although that's because after 9 Bud Lites my tenth drink is often from the toilet, or worse, so-co.

Really? I've had Heineken at a little hole in the wall bar on a commercial fishing dock in (extremely) rural Louisiana.

I'd probably go over the entire selection with the bartender before giving up, but if the best they had was Budweiser, I'd order a Coke.

OK, slight change of scenario....

Let's say, your at someone's house for a party(a friend of a friend of a friend), and all they have is a selection of the low end pilsners).

Man, I love Shipyard. When I visit my in-laws in ME, I get it on tap. There's brewpub in Kennebunkport, where it's on tap, I just can't think of the name right now.

Coke. "I'm sorry, I'm driving."

Or, if they know me reasonably well: "Thanks, but I don't drink that crap." Seriously, I had friends who, when I would visit, would offer (just to be polite): "Would you like some swill?"

Miller Lite.

I don't consider Shiner Bock to be low-end beer. It's yummy.

Bud Light is my low end beer. Yuengling is my vegan beer that I can get almost anywhere and be pretty happy with. For some stupid reason they always charge import prices for it though. That makes no sense considering it's America's oldest brewery.

I am not really a beer snob, more like someone who's avoided it most of her life due to taste. However, as I got older, i gained more of a taste for Guinness, Heineken, and Bass Ale. I recently however tried Bud with lime. It was ok.

I like MGD, and actually, I quite like Coors Light, but it tastes better in Canada.

No seriously, it does.

Canadian is also good.

Not old enough to drink in the U.S., but when I'm somewhere where I can I like Tsingtao, Guinness and Paulaner.

Shiner drinkers. Do you know if the brewery is vegan? I've heard that Shiner bock wasn't, but I don't like it so I've never bothered looking, but a friend was asking me the other day.

It's my understanding that all Shiner except the Hefeweizen is. I might be wrong, I should research a bit more.

I like Labatts, or Molsons, it's very plentiful in my area as I live 30 minutes from the canadian border. I was at a friends house the other night and was offered the very, very low end of beer "in my opinion" which was natural ice, I had a stomach ache for two days after drinking a few of those.

Yes, Yuengling. It's on tap everywhere in philly/so jersey. Sometimes I think it's cheaper than water. Love it.

If no Yuengling, Honey Brown (a NY beer), Anchor Steam (it's on tap at the restaurant across the street from me and its cheap and fabulous), and only if necessary, Bud Lite.

Honestly the only beers I detest are Shocktop and Blue Moon, those belgian style ones or whatever. It's like, thick or something. No thank you.
