Was anyone as crazy as myself and waiting in line for hours and hours and hours? If so, what did you get? My friend Sarah convinced me to go with her. At midnight, we went to the mall and raided Old Navy. Then we went back to the house for less than 2 hours and slept. Then we got up at 4am and waiting in line at Target for 2 hours.

I got:

3 pairs of pants (50% off at Old Navy)

Numerous shirts (ranging from $5-10)

2 House DVDs for $14 each (Seasons 2 and 3)

A '26 inch flat screen tv for $299

The Holiday movie for $5

I may return the TV and get something a little bigger, but it would cost me another $200 easily.

the whole black friday thing is a strange concept to me. i mean, i like a bargain... but probably not enough to get up at 4am especially for it. and the horrible way greed makes some people act is a bit sickening too....

I heard about the story too. People were not out of control where I was. I went to 2 locations, both with thousands of people.

I'm not much of a shopper. But I did go out to get a doorknob at home depot. The store experience took less than 5 minutes-- getting there and back took about an hour... and I live less about 5 minutes away from the store

sucked.

I bought Entourage seasons 1, 2, and 3 at Best Buy for $9.99 each. Haven't seen them but I've kind of wanted to. At that price I can watch them and then resell them on eBay and not really be out anything.

I also saw a (open box) 60" Mitsubishi TV for $809 at Circuit City. Wife shot that one down though.

I usually don't go out today but I was out for lunch and figured I'd see if things were too hectic.

Sweet! Those are great deals.

Too bad the box was open. That would have been AWESOME.

That Wal-Mart story made me sick.

Greed has ruined our country.

I was going to go out today and get my video game shopping done for the kids in the family (and myself). But when I got up and tried to get into some of the places, it was so packed that I decided to leave.

I don't do the whole black friday thing. After working years in retail I'm convinced I'm emotionally traumatized by the whole thing. The walmart story doesn't shock me at all after seeing how crazy people get on black friday.

I didnt' go this year, but about 3 years ago, I went to Best Buy (at about 2:30am) to wait in line to get a laptop, which I still have today

People go crazy on Black Friday, so I would rather just skip the deals...

I skipped the stores today. I've gone a few times, like last year and a few years before. But I really hate it. So I didn't bother this year.

My sister works in retail, and she just texted me about her store. People are going INSANE. People have been camped out since 3am YESTURDAY morning, waiting for the store to open this morning. There are TONS of cops there and tons of people getting arrested because everyone is breaking out into fights everywhere. I wish she didn't have to work today, people are so stupid.

I don't think so... my Mom's name is Sally, not Karen I'm not the type of person to waste money, but my sleep, body temp, and sanity are priceless to me.

I worked in retail for many years and became quite sick of the whole Christmas shopping frenzy. Last year I had to work at 5 AM and watched the crazy people line up and pack the store. This year I am unemployed and will avoid the crowds!

The greed and mindless consumerism of events like this disgusts me.

Love the post? Why not buy the T-shirt!

I went to gamestop at 8:30 and got the bf a game for regular price.

I went to Kohl's and got my brother a luggage set marked down from 220 to 59, a few candles for a couple bucks, and a bunch of socks (6 pairs for 3.60 or something).

It took 30 minutes in Kohl's, the line moved quick and there was parking. I'm not all about the big early rush though

I bought a samsung LED TV a while back, the energy efficiency was real important to me. but in hindsight I paid way too much for it. I should have gone with one of those Vizio TVs from Costco, really good quality for the price. you seem to be a videophile so I just thought I'd mention. 1080p is a little overrated unless you have one of those screens that just dominates the room in an obnoxious way.

I think the thing with Black Friday (for me, anyway) is to not go when the stores open...if you go an hour or two after that, it's not so bad.

I decided to keep the TV. The reason I was thinking about not doing so was because I was going to put it downstairs in the family room until I move out. My parents tv, which is 32" inches, is dying after 20 years (huge 4 inch line across the top). My niece and myself are really the only ones who watch tv downstairs.
