Does anybody have a credible reveiw of either of these colleges?

I just got accepted into the Academy of Art University in San Francisco,

but then again their admissions requirements are basically that you have a name, address, and $100 application fee.

I have yet to apply to The Art Institute of Seattle, but i do plan on it in the near future.

Last year a grad from my high school recieved a partial scholarship from this school, so that motivated me to fine tune my photography portfolio.

basically the photography teacher at my high school isn't qualified to teach in this field and has no proper education/ background in photography.

I'm hoping to regain inspiration and learn the basic technical aspects of the artform in college.

my creative pursuit is to find contentment in my career.

as it stands i'm perfectly happy working in retail, but would like to challenge my potential and expieriment more with photography/ advertising in college to see if photojournalism was something i'm happy with.

any/ all honost opinions are welcome.

US News had very little info on the Academy of Art Institute (only the name and year it was founded) and no listing for Art Institute of Seattle, so I don't know what to tell you about those schools in particular.

Based on my experiences and those of individuals close to me, schools that are easy to get into are that way for a reason. I'd contact the career services and/or admissions offices of any schools you're interested in, and ask about job placement rates, the percentage of students who go onto grad school, etc. If they can't provide you with that info or it doesn't sound so great, I'd be suspicious.

I will end this post with a shameless plug for my undergrad institution, which happens to have a photography program. Check it out here and here. Although it's only anecdotal evidence, the one person I know who went there for photography seems to be doing quite well. I could put you in touch with her if you have any interest in the school.

Good luck in your search!

Art Institute has campuses in several major cities, and is REALLY well connected with the corporate art/design/animation/etc world. They have really good placement rates, and a broad curriculum with many different areas to focus in. They are also pretty expensive, IIRC.
