One of our members has graciously offered to adopt an animal from Farm Sanctuary in the name of VeggieBoards.

We weren't able decide what type of animal to adopt so we thought we'd put it up for a vote. I'll leave the poll up for 7 days.

Once this person receives the adoption package they'll e-mail me the picture and info and I'll post it.

And thanks again from everyone!

Four of these things belong together

Four of these things are kind of the same

Can you guess which one of these doesn't belong here?

Now it's time to play our game!

I voted for the chicken, I think this animal often gets overlooked because it may not be as pretty or interesting or cute as the others

I know I'm putting more thought into it than I should. I feel like if I pick 1 the other 4 will starve, which of course is not the case. *sigh* What to do, what to do?

There will be more people willing to adopt a rabbit than there are people willing to adopt a chicken or a turkey, I'd guess. So, in that respect, I agree with Miss Meg.

I think all of the money goes into the same pot, so it's a matter of what animal we'd most like to follow. When the animal I adopted died, they sent me a notification.

But he had a happy last few years of his life.

I voted rabbit.

When I was very young I had rabbits that I didn't care for as well as I should have. I've always felt guilty about that.

Really though, I don't think it matters just so long as one is adopted.

How nice it is that someone is doing this.

I voted for the duck. I don't know if their ducks are rescued from foie gras farms or just "regular" slaughterhouses, but foie gras production is by far one of the cruelest practices out there, so when I saw "duck" that's all I could think of and that's why I picked it.

I voted for duck b/c I saw a totally cool show on Animal Planet Friday afternoon. It was on A Pet Story (which I usually don't watch b/c I'm usually working during the day and b/c it's often about people getting purebred dogs, etc. which as a shelter volunteer, makes me a little bit sad) and two graduate student vegans (they had t-shirts that said "vegan" on them and bumper stickers and the like--woo hoo!) rescued two ducks from a factory farm and spent so much time trying to rehabilitate them and took them to the vet for weekly physical therapy, etc. etc. Made me cry buckets.

Although I think sponsoring any animal is awesome and I will support whichever is chosen.

Is there a paypal address or something where people who want to donate can send money? Maybe there could be more than one animal adopted in the name of veggieboards! I'd be willing to cough up some $$ towards that end.

I voted turkey. The holidays are coming up so it seems like a turkey would be a good choice to sponsor.

I´m voting for the chicken.

1. I feel slightly guilty for enjoying the smell of the breaded chicken coming from a fast food joint this weekend.

2. I´ve held chickens before, and they always calm down. My omni friends, though, have no such luck. Gee, I wonder what they smell like?

3. When I was in the process of going vegetarian, chicken was the last animal I quit eating. I´M SORRY!!!

I considered the turkey too but I know they do that whole big turkey adoption thingy for thanksgiving so I felt the poor chickens get sort of overlooked

This is a TOUGH decision! Can't we sponsor them all? I voted for the goose, because I always root for the "underdog", and geese are eaten during the holidays, too.
