Well, when I joined there was an "adopt a newbie" thread.

Maybe we should do it again?

No kidding, VA! I´ve adopted quite a few, whether officially or not. I don´t think any of them have stayed more than a few weeks. Now I know it´s not just my mentoring efforts.

maybe there should be an advice for newbies thread in the intro forum. where a couple of us can volunteer to post. newbies would post questions there that they have about the boards and we would do our best to answer their questions and help them where we can. they could also post avatars there to be resized and i can do them and post them back. if we do that we can just go back and delete those files after say a month to save on space.

I agree, an "Introductory Advice Thread" (for newbies)..pertaining to each individual's quirks and gallavants, and their questions or concerns about group participation as a whole would be good... (in addition to the current intro thread)....

The IAT would let all the newbies mingle amongst themselves AND/Or us!!without fear of having to plunge straight in with ther rest of us on the main boards... and help them get their footing if they so choose or feel the need.

Ok, what we do is we all stand in a circle and then all at the same time we surge forward and link hands with whomever we can grab. Then we have to figure out how to untagle the knot without un-linking hands.

Oh, wait...that probably won't work b/c we're all online...

I like this idea instead of actually sharing food, we share our favorite recipes...

Hmmmm there are already community guidelines in the community forum....that's where you get avatar assistance and so on.

When you register you get a confirmation email, maybe in that mail we should have some references to things.

Maybe we could challenge the peta2 board to a soft ball game.

seriously though......

I like the recipe potluck idea a lot.

The photo gallery is great - I like the gatherings, and I like to see the pictures from them.

umm DV I don't think that softball game would be challeging at all. We out number peta2 with poputlation as well as that we are more than a bunch of winy 13 year old hehehe. Well Peta does have much of a team I've been there and all of the good member have left because of issues with 13 year olds and the lack of nevermind ack...

Following on from the idea of the baby pictures, I just realised if we were to post them in the gallery everyone would automatically know who we were because our usernames show up. So... why don't we bombard a moderator (volunteer) with our images, and he or she can post a thread everyday with a new pic in it... or one thread with all the pics, but that might end up being confusing. (They'd have to be labelled clearly).

i have actually been feeling like a part of the problem as of late. I keep meaning to be more positive and more postively active with the boards again. I'll get around to it.

AS far as team building exercises. I say start having small gatherings in your cities. They are fun and help you get to know your fellow VB neighbours.

What is this, a management retreat? Just don't start using the word 'proactive' and we'll get along fine.

I second Majake about the VB gatherings. I feel much closer to the group now.

Well said Majake!... That is a good admittance on your part and I think we all hope to follow by that same example and yes gathering and team building in person with those in our locality or region is a good thing too! (as well as online VBTB).
