I am so frustrated, it could just be me and my attitude or outlook, but something keeps getting sparked inside and it's been going on a long time. I work full time 8:30-5:00 at an office job which I really like. I am also a massage therapist, which I do only on the side it's too tough full time(mentally, physically, financially, etc), so I work one night a week 6:00-9:00 at a spa (I go straight from one place to the other. So I just called there to find out my schedule for the evening and I am booked, plus I am the only therapist there thursday nights, so all the pressure is on me when people want to come in, I have no help. The other therapist quit. Every week, every massage place Ive ever worked at I do the same thing, I always quit because I just hate it. I like doing massages to keep my skills up and the extra money is great too, but I just hate it every week just having to work a full time job then have to go there and work on these stupid people. Then I quit then hate not doing any massages. I wish I had the space in my apartment I could work on my own time, like once a week once every other week and not have to give away half my check to someone else ya know? Ugh, Im so frustrated, I don't know what to do.

Sounds normal to me.

In order to be in change of things you'll need your own place. I don't think there's any way around that. At from the info I have so far on this matter. Maybe someone else further along can advise you better.

My instructor is now in Portugal ( I want his rich person life  ) because he has his own place and can shut down whenever he feels like it.

I have this other massage job that I work at doing spa parties, it's pretty seasonal though, mostly summetime only. I work like once a month and get paid almost as much for that one party as I do a whole month of massages, I just wish I could find something more flexible

How about getting your own table or chair and travelling to *TRUSTED* locations to give massages? Another thing you might consider would be to do a massage exchange with another massage therapist. You won't be getting any money, but you would be keeping in practice and getting massages yourself.
