What do you think of this ?

http://www.violentvegan.com/

Michael 08-19-2003 06:42 AM

I think the guy is turning a lot of people off to veganism by reinforcing a (very) negative stereotype.

Obviously more interested in being better than everyone else than he is in doing any real good.

TreeManEarthSteward 08-19-2003 06:44 AM

I think I am for violence....(NOT!!)

Thanks 1Vegan... I especially like the f*** word!

GhostUser 08-19-2003 06:46 AM

I don't like that at all. Very negative. Not good.

Lothar M Kirsch 08-19-2003 07:47 AM

Definetely not a page I´m going to frequent!

Loki 08-19-2003 10:30 AM

The same old stereotypes. This page is the reason why most people are put off veg*nism.

GhostUser 08-19-2003 10:33 AM

Is this your homepage 1Vegan or someone you know?

Michael 08-19-2003 10:34 AM

I saw this posted on another veg message board, it's making the rounds.

dk_art 08-19-2003 11:07 AM

Well I don't like t-shirts with nasty sayings n them anyway regardless of what it's about but this is as bad as the baby bib with "eat meat , not wheat" on it

dk_art 08-19-2003 11:11 AM

of course there are worse ones :-\\

jilhrt2 08-19-2003 11:13 AM

That is definitely not taking the hight road. I definitely think it will turn people off to veganism.

dawngirl 08-19-2003 11:22 AM

It only adds to the perception by non veg*ns that the veg*n "world" is full of radical freaks. Too bad for stuff like that, I really get bothered when someone rolls their eyes at me and says, "oh, you're not one of them are you?"

carnelian 08-19-2003 06:26 PM

Not cool.

808veggie 08-19-2003 06:33 PM

I actually thought it was funny. I take things light and would wear it.

Thalia 08-19-2003 06:35 PM

I bet it was created by an omni.

808veggie 08-19-2003 06:38 PM

I think the whole site is quite amusing.

GhostUser 08-19-2003 07:27 PM

i thought itw as funny, the shirts that is. i'd wear one, but i like people gawking over my shirts. although his attitude and his site is poor, the shirt is funny

monkeyandbunny 08-20-2003 10:05 AM

Walkin' Talkin' stereotype. How utterly boring.

I was wondering the same thing. Of course, the internet has taught me that no matter how outrageous a viewpoint is, someone out there will have it. The site name is a little over-the-top, though it appears that the author isn't actually promoting violence in their blog. It is true that not all veg*ns are pacifists. *shrug* Might be real, maybe not.

GhostUser 08-20-2003 11:09 AM

LOL. Fvck, the stereotype, this is hilarious. They actually have greeting cards that read "**** You if You Eat Chicken." I'm still opposed to violence against people, but I have no problems at all with property damage.

Kurmudgeon 08-20-2003 11:18 AM

I have a big problem with this site..... that t-shirt only mentions Chickens. What about Cows, Sheep, Pigs, Fish, etc.?

808veggie 08-20-2003 11:20 AM

how about if it sd fvck you if you kill animals, would that please u then?

chiaraluna 08-20-2003 12:05 PM

A little too negative for my taste.

Michael 08-20-2003 12:33 PM

There you go kurm, 1-up the guy and build a site of your own.

mushroom 08-20-2003 12:35 PM

I have no problem with the site (because he is not promoting violence - unlike an omni's diet, which DOES promote violence) and I do think his slogan beats: "Beef. It's what's for dinner."

I would be too chicken to wear his shirt, myself.

Free autographed "fvck you if you kill animals" t-shirts for all VBers, of course.

Cissy 08-20-2003 01:56 PM

That just reminded me of some of the funniest slogans I've ever seen on billboards...

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for PORK!"

and

"One potato, two potato, three potato, PORK!"

Those were friggin hilarious...I was laughing so hard.

borealis 08-20-2003 02:56 PM

Did you see his blog? Appalling! He mis-uses apostrophes!

"Chinese Nature Park lets visitors shoot baby Chicken's for fun"

"Please Don't F*ck the Cow's"

An apostrophe does not make a word plural!

Oh, wait. You guys were talking about the content.

Verbivore 08-20-2003 05:16 PM

Misused apostrophes make Verby a violent vegan.

veganium 08-20-2003 07:20 PM

hahaha SO funny to hear it outright and on a T-Shirt! AMAZING!

yeah, but it's a really bad PR.
